Not only was Mr Lamb a outstanding music teacher he was a really great person with us and our children. Very patient and very responsive to both of them. A really great teacher, thank you clifford.
Neil is very patient with my son and makes sure he has a great time while learning. He is a great music teacher and I recommend him for anyone wanting to learn to play!
Note: This is only based on 1 interaction. Mindy taught my daughter's lesson for 1/2 hour. My daughter needed help with a school piece. Mindy patiently explained musical terms my daughter was unfamiliar with. Mindy asked my daughter questions that made her think. Mindy made sure my daughter was relaxed even when she made mistakes or couldn't answer a question. My daughter seemed to connect well with Mindy by the end of this first lesson. I was thrilled the lesson was 30 minutes (and maybe a couple minutes more) as previous teachers have cut short the lesson time. I liked the room where the lesson was taught because it was large (we're use to cramped studios) and had a lot of air circulation. The location is close enough that I don't have to use the freeway. I really liked the fact that there wasn't another student when we arrived and there wasn't a student when we left. It was really distracting at previous lessons with other teachers when students left their lessons late causing our lesson to start late and students arriving before our lesson was finished. I look forward to seeing my daughter's improvement until Mindy's guidance.
Kelly is a very good and enthusiastic teacher. His teaching method is engaging and fun.
I am an adult with zero music education, I love classical music and decided to start playing piano for pleasure. Acquiring a skill is a project in our busy lives, a piano teacher is a partner in such a project, you need to find the one who would make it work. Finding Stella has been great for me. She is very flexible and dynamic, so far we have been able to schedule regular bi-weekly lessons despite the fact I live in Portland and Berkeley and keep traveling between them. More importantly, Stella is very efficient at utilizing the little time we spend together. She spends half of the lesson time reviewing homework and the rest of the lesson discussing assignment with demos in class. She starts by asking me to exercise my hands at the new assignment in class, she gives comments on posture, hand position and movement of my wrests, fingering and sheet reading. She emphasizes the purpose of the assignment (speed, muscles strengthening ... etc). While I am exercising she is always busy writing notes on my performance and things to watch for and new assignments. *She is super efficient at using the lesson time*. I definitely recommend Stella. I think she can be your partner in your piano project.
I've been taking guitar and singing lessons with David for a few months, and I've got to say I've had a really great time learning from him! David is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable teacher who clearly cares about his students and their goals, and better still has played and performed with the artists that I like best. It took me a while to find a teacher who was willing to teach me the music I wanted to play instead of starting with their core competence, so it was really refreshing that within a month or two with plenty of practice I was able to learn one of my favorite songs (Three Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot, if you're curious), and a little longer to start singing it, which I was really stoked about. He has been great about breaking things down when the piece we're working on is too challenging. David has also pushed me to pursue my goal of creating music, helping along the way to create melodies and lyrics. I have to say, it takes a great teacher to get me to sing and to share lyrics with them (do you know how embarrassing that can be?). I could go on, but suffice it to say, David is a great teacher, and I'm really glad I started taking lessons with him.
Juan Carlos is an excellent voice teacher. He is very skilled, supportive and patient. My daughter has improved significantly in the short amount of time he has been teaching her. She has learned so much. I highly recommend him.
Garrick's the Best.......He can literally play anything;and he loves music-All music-.And what makes him such a great teacher is that he loves helping you, and seeing you learn whatever it is that you want to learn. He can really inspire you while you're learning;because as he's teaching you,you feel as if he's learned something in the process too. Sarah has worked with me on my songwriting including helping me put my songs to music. She is a wonderful teacher, patient, kind and incredibly supportive. On top of her teaching skills, she is clearly talented at what she does. She was really able to help me create music for songs I was stuck on and come up with lyrics that expressed what I wanted to say. If you're looking for a great music coach she's your girl!
I have been taking classical piano lessons with Mrs. Matoush for 2 years now and am delighted with my progress. Toby is an excellent teacher with an unmatched passion for classical music. I have progressed at a rapid rate in spite of not having a great deal of time to practice daily. Toby really knows how to motivate and inspire her students to play and integrates music theory with a nice blend of classical music songs so that her students learn the fundamentals, but also enjoy playing classical songs very quickly. She is fantastic at picking the most appropriate music books. Hearing her play her beautiful original compositions is such an inspiration that I have decided to also learn songwriting from her. Toby and her band are working on making a YouTube video of one of her compositions and I can't wait to hear and see it. My daughter is now studying with her as well as she has grown to love hearing classical music too and wants to study rock piano with Toby too.
Liz does an amazing job of pinpointing areas that need work in the voice. She's also given me several exercises that have really helped to develop my voice further. Super great teacher with a ton of good experience! Exactly what I needed
I have known Lynn for 35 years and you cannot ask for a better piano teacher. Lynn started teaching me piano 35 years ago, and now she is teaching my daughter. Lynn is extremely caring, knowledgeable and passionate. Our daughter has flourished since beginning piano lessons with Lynn 2 years ago; she is playing advanced songs that most students her age wouldn't be able to play. Lynn makes learning piano fun, and our daughter enjoys practicing daily without us having to remind her. We are very happy to have Lynn as our teacher, and would encourage anyone interested in piano to call her first.
I've been studying voice since I was 12 years old. I have been through a few different voice teachers in San Francisco and I feel so lucky to have finally found Patricia. Before Patricia I wasn't making progress that was satisfactory to me. Patricia seamlessly bridged my gaps in understanding and since working with her, I have progressed faster than I thought was possible. Patricia teaches a very effective technique for beautiful and healthy singing. When I began with her I wasn't confident with my musicality. Now, three years later, with her tools and training, I feel extremely confident as a singer and performer. Patricia's technique gives students freedom to express themselves through singing in ways that will not damage their instrument. I leave my lessons with Patricia each week feeling confident and understanding something new about my voice. Very often we have a breakthrough...something that never happened before! Added bonus, I love the location of her studio. So close to 24th street so I always leave time to grab a coffee before I come :)
Emily is a great teacher. After learning to play the ukulele, in my sixties, I wanted to at least sing on key. With her help, I was able to not only sing on key, but actually sing in public, emjoy it, and have others compliment me on my voice..
Karin successfully instructed me in improving my sight-reading skills. She is an effective, knowledgeable, and skilled musician with multi-talented expertise as a composer, performer and piano teacher.
Alison is very patient and makes learning music fun and expressive for our kids. She's really flexible with scheduling, too!
Have started lessons with Chloe just one month back for my 9 year old. My daughter and I love the energy and enthusiasm she brings to each lesson. Her focus on technique is something I really appreciate. My daughter was learning violin for about 2 yrs before coming to studio violin, and just month I can see that her music is sounding better with Chloe's detailed focus on basics and techniques. My kid is loving it so far so thumbs up and highy recommend her!
I am learning piano as an adult. Marina is making the process an enjoyable experience for me. She is calm, encouraging, and a skilled teacher.
He'said very patient and has a unique way of teaching that is easy for a person to learn.
Marc LeGrand is an excellent pedagogue and performer. He brings a contagious passion to everything he does. His drive is only matched by his professionalism, preparedness, and sheet talent. You can expect from him music of the highest quality and a genuinely warm personality.
She's very friendly to her students and pay attention on what you need. I felt relax and happy every time after working with her. Highly recommended!
