About
Hello! My name is Sara, and I’m a Red Cross certified swim instructor who offers swim lessons in your backyard or community pool. I have 7 years of teaching experience, along with 4 years of competitive swimming experience and a B.A. in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, which helps me tailor my teaching approach to each swimmer’s individual needs. I primarily work with children ages 3 and up, but I’ve taught swimmers of all ages, including adults. I offer both private and group lessons and recommend 30-minute sessions per person for the most effective learning experience.

Sara has been great with my two girls beginning their swimming journey and we couldn’t be happier with our lessons she is providing to them. Definitely would recommend her many times over.

Absolutely 5 stars! Sara's Swim School has been incredible from start to finish. The instructors are patient, professional, and truly care about each swimmer’s progress. The lessons are well-structured, fun, and tailored to individual needs. We've seen such great improvement and confidence in the water. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Sara! My daughter went through countless different lessons with other instructors and didn’t make any significant progress. Once she started with Sara, progress was noticed almost immediately. By the end of the summer she was able to swim across the pool all by herself and started working on other swim strokes. We have our own pool so pool safety was top priority. We definitely feel we achieved that objective and more!

Last summer my 5-year-old grandson was deathly afraid of getting into a pool, and concerns I had about his inability to swim were paramount. I retained Sara to teach him how to swim this past summer. Her professional methods, coupled with how she was able to encourage his efforts resulted in him no longer fearing being in the water and having the ability to swim. Sara's focus was on swimming techniques and water safety. With this summer's arrival, we are looking forward to continuing his swimming classes with Sara, with goals centered on improving his swimming skills.

We started working with Sara recently because we were hoping for faster progress and more individualized attention for our kids than what they were getting in group lessons at the Y. We are happy with how much the kids have improved so far, particularly our younger two. We have a full and busy schedule, and the weather can be extremely hot during the summer in Escondido, and we've appreciated her flexibility in accommodating requests for schedule changes when something comes up or we feel it's too hot for thr kids to swim at a certain hour. We appreciate her reasonable rates as well.

FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will reach out to inquiries with an initial call to learn more about your location and answer any questions you may have. After that, we switch to messaging to move forward with scheduling—this helps us keep a clear record and paper trail for both sides.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified through the Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor, with training in proper swim techniques, safety protocols, and teaching swimmers of all ages and skill levels. I also have several years of competitive swimming experience and a B.A. in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. My background in psychology helps me understand different learning styles, build trust with swimmers, and adapt my teaching approach to each individual. All of this helps me create a safe, structured, and effective learning environment for my swimmers.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Swimming has been a big part of my life since I was young, from competitive swimming to working as a lifeguard and teaching aquatic sports camps for several years. Teaching swim lessons felt like a natural next step, allowing me to stay connected to the water while helping others learn a life-saving skill.
