About
I have been teaching kids and adults piano lessons for almost five years now. These lessons are beginner friendly yet highly professional thanks to my master of music in composition from San Francisco Conservatory and experience teaching piano at multiple music studios throughout the Bay Area. I have received professional piano technique and ergonomics training from my time teaching at Myriad Music School. My library of piano methods, theory books and songs has grown to over 300 items (including the first newly created book of my own method series), so I can accommodate a wide range of temperaments and abilities ages 4+. My game box with various creative ways to practice music theory during class helps engage children ages 4-10 who need more variety in their lessons to focus. I continue to grow professionally as both a teacher and musician, performing regularly on trumpet around town and posting piano videos and original compositions on my youtube channel (Rock with Roxanne). I often get positive feedback for my patience, creativity, and person-ability.
The most fulfilling part of being a teacher is leaving your students feeling more capable and empowered than they were before. I'm not satisfied if you're not satisfied, so you can trust that I will bring my best to every lesson.

Roxanne is effective and excellent at teaching you or your child to learn and enjoy playing piano because she smartly adjusts to what you need. She has a plan, and informs you of it through her review and student tracker, but she doesn't just push you along. She started our child with fundamental finger movements and new patterns of thought, while progressing the difficulty of songs. She behaves like she expects your best foot (very good) but she's actually so understanding and gentle. She definitely understands child education and her experience shines.
We currently practice once a week with daily practice on our own. We had about a week to decide to establish a long term education plan with her, this really set the tone. our family moves often, so having an online teacher is a versatile addition to our family. I think if you want your child to achieve a lot and feel proud of themselves, you should hire Roxanne.

My kids have been taking lessons (guitar and piano) with Roxanne for a few months now. Roxanne is very enthusiastic and excited to teach music which helps my kids stay engaged. I have seen so much progress in their ability to read notes and play their instrument. Thanks Roxanne!

I have been pursuing classes with Roxanne for about a couple of months now and the experience has been amazing. I'm an adult learner and started learning Piano, in the little time I have outside of work, with the Alfred's series.
Roxanne structured the classes beautifully to fit alongside the series that I was already following and then extending the periphery with musictheory, ear training and practicing songs that I wanted to learn.
In the little time, I've started my classes with Roxanne - I can construct scales and write small songs on my own - this in little over two months. I can't wait for my toddler to join the class as soon as he's 3(he's a little over 2 now). I highly recommend Roxanne to young and adult learners alike. She's thorough, professional and an excellent teacher.

Roxanne is a great piano teacher! She teaches two of my kids who have pretty different interest levels with piano and music in general and they both really enjoy working with Roxanne. We are seeing really nice steady improvement from the kids with Roxanne and we aren't hearing the reluctance from our kids as we have in the past.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge monthly and pro-rate over the holidays. Make-up lessons are offered for cancellations as long as 24 hours of notice were given.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'll pre-screen new students based on skill, prior experience, and interests, and then take a guess at what the best method approach will be for them. I test this out in the first lesson and following lessons and make an adjustment before the end of the first month if necessary. Between Piano Adventures, Musicolor, Wunderkeys, and my own new story-based method The Little Pianist, there is an approach via method that works for just about every student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Arts (Music). Master in Music Composition. I worked for Myriad Music School, Village Music, and Vibo Music in the bay area for multiple years, each studio had different standards and approaches that have given me well-rounded professional education and experience in piano pedagogy and technique. Trumpet has been my primary instrument and source of my experience as a professional musician for the past 20+ years. I play piano for composing and recording music. I auditioned on piano for my Composition studies program at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, with the repertoire including one of my own pieces. See my youtube channel.
