When i arrived at Dexters house for the first time, I felt peaceful in my new surroundings. I was welcomed by a beautiful blonde lady who was very kind and professional. Michele did an excellent job grooming my two dogs. i could see how happy my dogs were, Michele is prompt, knowledgeable, and did an excellent job grooming my dogs to sepcificity as per my request. She is a very giving person, (she gave me a new toothbrush and dog shampoo) i 'm very happy with Michele, the way she groomed my dogs and would refer all my family and friends. Most of all, my dogs seemed to be very, very happy. I give her five stars, and two thumbs up.

I'm very pleased with this company! I have 2 senior rescue dogs & 1 large Siberia cat. One of my dogs is special needs because she's blind. The other dog is a new rescue for me & she needs reassurance & lots of love as she adjusts to her living situation. Needless to say I'm not comfortable leaving then alone all day. I knew Renee was the right person for all 3 of my pets. All 3 immediately responded positively toward her. Lots of wagging tails! Renee took care of my brood for 9 hours the first time. I was amazed...I came home to relaxed, calm & happy pets!. She'll be coming back because I plan on hiring her again & again. A+++

Alice took really great care of our maltipoo. I was out of town for a week and was kind enough to pick up my dog from my parents, and drop her off when it was time to. She took care of my dog for 2 days including overnights. While in Hawaii, I received pictures and videos of my Mia pup :) I was so glad she was being well taken care of. Prior to picking her up, Alice wanted me to tell her all about our dog, and made sure she understood everything regarding the care of our dog including any medication she needed to take, and if it was ok for her to bring our Mia to the dog park. She does have a bigger dog at home, but she made sure both Kira and my Mia got along before they could be in the same room together :) they enjoyed playing with each other. We are a military family and we don't know that many people, let alone people we trust to take care of our pets when we need someone to. I'll definitely have Alice take care of my dog again if we ever need a pet sitter again. She's affordable and really great at what she does!

Our dog always smells so good when she is all done. They do a good job with grooming and take good care of her when we board her. She doesn't particularly like other dogs, but here she plays with other dogs happily without making much of a mess, she loves this place very much, and so do I.

I love dogs and have had them my entire life! I'm looking for a part-time job walking dogs. I love all types of dogs. I'm that girl who stops and pets your dog to say "hello".

We do pet grooming, washing, sitting, training, walking bathing, trimming of nails, sharing, cleaning of Easter, and express anal gland. The kinds of animals we service are dogs, cats, horses, and everything in between! Our professional credentials and years in the industry have equipped us with the best techniques to groom your pets, while making a meaningful connection all at the same time. We love what we do and we only provide the best at Cheryl and David Gillis Dog Grooming!

I am happy to walk any types of dogs. Big or small, long haired or shaved, it doesn't matter! Just give me a call and we can work something out.

I will take care of your dog in your home while you are gone on a trip even if it's for 1 day, 2 weeks, or longer. I love animals. I'm very good with them. They all love me. I'm not afraid of any dog. I'm honest, reliable, and very clean. I have references of other dog owners I have worked for in the past. In training a dog, I can teach them to sit and stay shaken, that's about it. I can also potty train; I seem to have good luck doing that too. I will also keep an eye on your home while you are away. Also, I will walk your dog, play with it and give it lots of love.

I enjoy walking my own dog or any other dogs. In general, I love dogs. I love playing with them and walking them.

I love taking care of babies and kids, and helping them with the things they need. I know how to take care of kids because I raised my little brother and sister. I also love dogs, I like to take care of them and take them to long walks near nature. I like to take care of them and give them what they need.

I walk and run dogs, play with them and make sure that they get the most exercise. Also, I am good with dogs.

I have two dogs and one cat myself. I have a chihuahua and a German Shepherd Lab mixed. I walk them everyday, sometimes twice a day. I give them baths, brush their teeth and cut their nails. Brushing your pet's teeth can be an option but cutting nails might not, unless I'm familiar with the pet.

You can depend on me. I'm always on time. I really care about customer satisfaction. I don't lie: always keeping it real.

We offer flexible care times and customized rates to suit your needs. Are you a nurse, doctor, or anyone else who works 12 hour shifts? Great! Because we even offer late night walks!

I offer complete grooming services in the comfort of their home. I am great for larger dogs that don't travel well or dogs that are uncomfortable being left at the groomer for hours. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

    What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

    What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

    • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
    • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
    • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
    • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
    • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
    • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.

How much does it cost to groom a dog?

Dog grooming costs depend on the service your pet requires. Nationally, the average price for dog grooming ranges from $40 to $100, varying by location. Not surprisingly, dog grooming on New York’s Upper East Side costs nearly double what it costs in a small town in Montana. Dog groomers typically handle every aspect of your dog’s beauty and hygiene, from tooth brushing to hairstyling. One potential way to save is to have your dog groomed at your doggy daycare — sometimes they offer discounts on dog grooming prices for clients. Here are some examples of average dog grooming costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note these prices would include transportation fees for picking up and dropping off your dog to your home:

    • Nails: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
    • Toothbrushing: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
    • Tooth scraping (removal of plaque from teeth to prevent infection), with anesthesia: $600
    • Tooth scraping, without anesthesia: $400.
    • Wash and dry: $60
    • Ears: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
    • Grooming package: $130 — includes wash, nails, teeth, ears, gland expression and haircut
