- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Services EXCEPT Metalwork: I charge hourly for the first 2 hours rounded up, then in 30 minute increments thereafter. Metalwork Services: I charge a MINIMUM of 1 hour for metalwork jobs, regardless of the apparent simplicity of the task or value of the object to be repaired. Fees: For payment by credit cards I charge an additional 3% on top of the price. This is a fee for using the Point-of-Sale service.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I will send a message via Thumbtack with my cell phone number and request text messages. The app is cumbersome to use to upload pictures and is often buggy. Generally pictures are submitted and the work is more fully explained. Then, I will visit the customer's location. By then I have a good idea what the job will cost. if I haven't provided a quote up to now, this is when I will do so.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was hired into facilities management at my current company in March 2012. I learned everything on the job and I love building and fixing things.
