About
I am a positive reinforcement dog trainer. I've been working with dogs for fifteen years and training for ten years. I started out as celebrity trainer Tamar Geller's assistant trainer doing board & trains, as well as private sessions. I do training in person and virtual for basic and advanced obedience, behavior modification, reactivity, and confidence building. Virtual sessions are helpful for puppies to talk about potty training, starting a routine, teething and chewing, how to socialize, and starting basic obedience. During these sessions, I would explain basic obedience cues to you and have you try it with your dog. Online sessions are also good for dogs that have behavioral issues or are very aggressive. It's best to muzzle train on your own and teach some basic obedience to your dog before having a trainer come out in person. I recommend doing some training on your own for a really aggressive or anxious dog so that a trainer doesn't stress them out. After a training session, I will email you a training plan for your dog. I charge $120 for 1 session (cheaper with a package) $300 for 3 sessions $475 for 5 sessions $760 for 8 sessions The sessions are one hour.

I was able to book a training session super quickly, which was awesome! Heather came to my house and helped me with some tools to better communicate with my dog. She also went with us for a walk to see his reactivity and different techniques that would work for him and followed up very supportively over email with some additional exercises. I feel a lot more confident about how to work with my dog and would highly recommend this training.

Heather did a phenomenal job with buttons. I was experiencing heavy fights with my dogs and guided me with a plan and a course of action. She also provided helpful guides and tangible resources for baby steps as buttons trainings sessions will begin and progress. I called the same day and she came over and was a JOY TO WORK WITH! We will be having her come back for quite some time !!

Awesome experience on the first day training my husky dog. Heather is a professional trainer with a lot of patience. Very valuable lessons on the first day. I was really impressed with how well my dog responded to her. He's starting to listen to me on the first day of training. Highly recommend her.

From day one, Heather made a positive impression on our family, including with our puppy Vincent. Heather is punctual each session, and remained with our family the full hour or more. As recent retirees we found, in comparison to other trainers, the cost to have our puppy trained very reasonable. Heather is a professional, informative, very knowledgeable and pleasant person.

I highly recommend heather!! I had been struggling with my dogs reactivity for years, but it started to get aggressive and I wasn’t able to take him on walks anymore. I tried a trainer that used a shock collar but my dog just seemed terrified of walks after that. Then after a few trainers turned me down because my dog is a pit bull, I found Heather! She gave me and Ollie confidence to go out on walks again and we have so much fun training with positive rewards!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've been working with dogs and other animals for over 10 years. I've been a veterinary assistan and worked at doggie daycare facilities. After being with groups of 15 dogs, I learned a lot about body language and started to train dogs.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Dog trainers train the owner as much as we do dogs. Owners need to work with their dogs in between sessions. 5-10 minutes at a time helps a lot.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Potty training doesn't really require a trainer. Consistently is key for all training. The best thing you can do for a puppy or any dog that is not house trained is to take them outside every 2 hours at least. In the morning, 10 minutes after they eat and when puppies start to play are often times that they will need to go outside.
