FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was looking for a Makeup Artist, I seached the web, checking out websites, comparing price quotes, finding photos of makeup looks, I wanted. Finally, I found someone and booked a Hair & Makeup trial. Before the trial, I asked her what I should or should'nt do before my appointment. The day came, and I was full of anticipation and excitement! I arrived with photos in hand (Modern 50's look w/red lip), I asked her to use colors that would look good on me, to achieve the look I wanted. She recomended Airbrush makeup, so I tried it. Everything about it was really BAD! I hated it. Nothing seemed to be covered up(my dark circles/redness on cheeks). Then, she used liquid foundation, and finished the look completely. I couldn't believe what I saw, it was horrible! The colors she used on my eyes and lips did not complement me at all. And my hair, the curls didn't hold(she didn't tell me to avoid using a flat iron when I asked). I did a better job with my makeup, than she did. In the end, I found someone else and loved how I looked on my Big Day. So, after loosing my job in 2009, I decided to get some education, became a Freelance Makeup Artist and I'm make people happy, one Bride at a time!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my clients are Brides and their bridal party. I've enjoyed every event and feel honored to have been a part of so many special moments!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Bring photos of makeup looks you would like. And, don't be afraid to ask questions! Especially, if you don't wear makeup very often. Like, how much coverage you want from your foundation, Sheer and Natural, Full coverage with a Matte finish or something in between. A good makeup artist, will ask the right questions and suggest the best options, but in the end, you should love the way you look and feel! This is always my #1 goal, and what motivated me to become a Makeup Artist.
