After years of saving, my wife and I recently purchased our first home in the Bay Area that was supposed to be turn-key. Unfortunately it was been anything but that. We have been renovating now for almost 11months as we found many issues during remodeling including asbestos, a missing section of our perimeter wall foundation, termites, asbestos, mold, bad electrical and plumbing, wood rot etc. At the start of the project, we took estimates from many carpenters to help with rough framing, windows, doors etc. After much deliberation, we decided to work with Grant at Jean Design Build.
Grant is very honest, upfront, and has a vast knowledge of residential construction. He is an educated master craftsmen with an attention to detail that unfortunately is rare in the industry. Grant did the rough framing for us, installed 10 windows, 2 ext and 5 int doors, repaired and replaced sections of our entire subfloor, removed a load bearing wall and installed a new beam in our kitchen.
We worked together for many months this past spring and summer. He always did his best to answer all our questions and concerns by phone/text/email and completed his work on time. When the plumber made a mistake and a pipe burst in our new walls. Grant immediately took a day off another job to come and help remove then replace the exterior siding. He not only does good work, but he has sincere concern and empathy for his clients that is truly rare and honestly very uncommon in the industry.
After this unplanned complete renovation of our new home we often regret the purchase as it has almost bankrupted us. However, hiring Grant was a decision we will never regret. I trust and highly recommend Grant.

I needed a bathroom light replaced for a rental. I was not available to go to the rental but we discussed what I was looking for; quality built but not over the top nice or overly expensive. He bought the unit, installed and sent me a picture when done. Did a great job and within my budget. Highly recommend and will use him again.

I had a great experience with Jean Design Build today. I reached out yesterday regarding an issue with my washer dryer. He immediately responded to my query and was at my home this morning right on time. He was quickly able to identify the issue and provide us with a resolution.
He is good to work with and very reasonable as well. I will definitely be working with him in the future.
