FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was a natural progression. I earned a degree in art in 1979. From there I began teaching high school art. After 4 years of disillusionment I started my own house painting company from which I learned about surface prep, brushes, paints, writing contracts and being self employed. After 20 years of house painting I injured myself in Jamaica playing an after dinner game where I broke my left shoulder so badly I lost use of my left arm. Knowing that house painting takes upper body strength I knew I was not going to be able to work. About the same time a client called and asked if I knew of any artists. I told her "yes, I have a degree in art, what do you need?" A mural for her son's room and the rest is history. One mural led to another and a new career was emerging!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Generally they are landscapes of various depictions ranging from ocean scenes to vineyards. Secondly, they would be something of a personal nature that involves a place they've been or something from their past.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask to see their work. Not just a portfolio but some examples around town in public places.
