Dustin has been great to work with! His willingness to come to you for training, coupled with his immense knowledge of both workouts and nutrition (not to mention his enthusiasm for what he does), has made our sessions extremely productive. I'm very pleased with how things have gone so far, and will continue to work with him moving forward!

Pete has been an awesome trainer for our office! He has been very flexible with us in terms of scheduling and flexibility, as well as very responsive. I normally receive a call or text back from Pete within five minutes. He brings the equipment and teaches a heart racing classes. Our employees are at different levels in terms of ability and Pete always offers alternative moves to still benefit from the different exercises. I highly recommend Pete if your office is looking for a trainer.

Andrea Lane has quite simply been an amazing personal trainer for me! She took the appropriate time to understand who I am as a person, my eating and exercise habits as well as my age and physical ability to craft a nutrition and exercise program specific to me. As my nutrition coach and personal trainer, she helped me get back my desired physique, improve my nutrition habits and attain my targeted weight goal. Quite frankly, Andrea has done what no one else could do and I have regained my happiness in life and feel great! I highly recommend Andrea Lane as a personal trainer and nutrition coach!

Marjorie is, hands-down, the best "teacher" I've ever had. The reality is that to call her "teacher" wouldn't be enough. I came across Marjorie six years ago, when her class was recommended to me by another instructor, and I attended her class at then-Vira Yoga in NYC. I was blown away by everything about Marjorie: her knowledge of the whole body and of practicing yoga safely is above and beyond anyone I've ever met. I am a former soccer player with a history of chronic pain, and always shied away from regular yoga. Marjorie became my weekly ritual-I begin attending her Sunday 4 PM class at World Yoga Center whenever I could, and even sometimes went during lunch to her weekday classes. The modifications that she teaches are unlike any instructor I've ever met. She gently helps you find a way to be in every pose, commands the class with great warmth while also offering to help each student and pay attention to their alignment, and is available for consultation outside of class. She also is not like some yoga teachers, who move through the poses quickly and aren't sensitive to potential injury points. Marjorie is extremely experienced and teaches with safety first. she also incorporates sage wisdom, mindfulness, and recommendations for self-care and homeopathic remedies regularly. And she's funny! Also, she's a native New Yorker, I also found her observations very pertinent and real (for example, many New Yorkers spend time at a desk sitting in a chair, and are surrounded by lots of noise and high energy levels generally - she methodically walks you through how to adjust to each of those norms). I suspect that wherever Marjorie lives and teaches, she is fully engrossed in the patterns and habits of that location. This ability of hers to be "tuned in" and genuine goes a long way in the way she teaches her class. I was delighted to also learn that Marjorie could be a confidant and crucial consult for other health problems in my life. She will always defer to doctors and experts, but Marjorie pointed me towards a rehabilitation specialist and I have been working with for two years, who has also changed my life. Not to mention that several health and mindfulness-related books on my bookshelf are there as a result of Marjorie's recommendation. And most recently, at Marjorie's urging, I completed her reset and re-new course, which helped me to reset my eating habits and tackle my inflammation, and, as she says, "live better in my body" through diet and wellness routines. I am happy to say that I have lost 20 pounds in my inflammation is greatly reduced. And, the whole time I've known her, I've known that she is always available when I may be in crisis with my health. When Marjorie left New York City, a regular of part of my routine did go away. But, Marjorie makes herself available for private sessions via Zoom, and will regularly consult over email. She is an incredible practitioner and anyone lucky enough to should reap the benefits of her wisdom. There are 1 million instructors out there, but they're truly only has one Marjorie. Plus, her dog is adorable!!!!

My name is Walker. I'm a 52 year old male with Myasthenia Gravis. I will not bore you with the details on what MG is, but I can say that it's an illness that affects the muscles in my body and makes them fatigued when I exercise. Overtime I noticed that I was losing muscle mass, mainly in my arms and chest. After consulting with my doctor and realizing that what I was doing was not accomplishing what I wanted, I decided to hire Georgi as my trainer. After explaining my situation and (letting her know that i didn't want to give up Catfish Wednesday on the base), she immediately accepted the challenge. My starting weight was 228. Over the first 7 months I lost 17lbs and a couple of inches off my waistline. And now I'm holding steady at 207. What I've learned and continue to learn from Georgi over the past 15 months is priceless. I feel better now because I'm eating better and holding myself accountable and not using MG as an excuse not to be healthy and not exercise. I would encourage anyone with health issues or healthy as an ox, that can and want to exercise, to consult someone who is knowledgeable and that has your best interest at heart. That person for me was Georgi. You owe it to yourself to learn to do it the right way. Remember, give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he'll eat for the rest of his life. (Hopefully not fried.) "I learned that from my Mom." Good Luck.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
