    I started in Deirdra's class at Women's Fitness about 15 years ago, took a 7-yr. break during those 15 years and returned to one of her small group classes about 10 months ago. Because of an issue I had before I resumed work-outs, Deirdra gladly planned a work-out for me that took into consideration my weak points so I could continue to benefit from exercising. She encourages the participants, and modifies an exercise if it's beyond someone's ability. Deirdra is encouraging and supportive, and is comfortable with suggesting other ways for obtaining similar results. She's patient, and always available for questions or comments. I have experienced positive results since returning to Deirdra's exercise classes.

    Dierdre has been keeping me in shape for 8 years at least, during my many physical ups and downs. She always provides me with a great workout that is suited to my state of health. Besides the actual workouts, her advice on diet and exercise have keep me strong, balanced, and flexible as I enter my 77th year. In addition to her "technical" abilities as a trainer, Dierdre also possesses a terrific sense of humor and a thoroughly professional approach to her training. I couldn't be happier with her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For a three-month, once a week commitment, prices range from$27 for small group training, $46 for semi-private training and $78 for personal training within five miles of Fairfax, CA. Longer travel distances and less frequent meetings might be slightly more.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by discussing their goals, their commitment to achieving them, their past efforts and setbacks, and then I do an evaluation of strength, endurance, flexibility. If weight loss is a goal, I set up a nutritional program for them and I take body fat and circumference measurements. I design the program with their fitness level and goals in mind.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up playing tennis, cycling, figure skating and dancing. When Jazzercise became popular in the 1980's, I began teaching it and moved into fitness.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with clients from teenagers to those in their 90's. Most are folks in their 40's-60's who realize this the best and last chance they have to improve the quality of t heir lives into their later years.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Please see two before/after clients on my website. Both took a year or longer.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure your trainer can do more than sit you on a machine and count reps.
