John helped my son with ACT preparation (mainly English), earlier this year (2017). John has an excellent understanding of the subject matter (SAT & ACT), lucid in his explanation of complex questions, very empathetic to a student's requirements (do you need to move your ACT scores from 25 to 30, 32 to 35, etc) and extremely flexible with his timings...this was critical as my son was busy with out of school activities and John was willing to move his schedules at the last minute. I rate him as a great tutor and completely worth the fees paid.
Met with John once or twice a week over the course of several months during my GMAT preparation. I started out with a 13th percentile quantitative score. After working with him I was able score in the 73rd percentile on my first official GMAT, exceeded my initial goal by scoring ABOVE a 700. I had no formal quantitative training or experience prior to studying; the last math class I took was as a sophomore in high school (a decade ago). Each time I met with John, he was able to go beyond simply correcting my mistakes. He clearly explained the overarching reasoning, strategy and logic behind a certain problem. This is something the video explanations in GMAT curriculum do not do as thoroughly as John. If you're looking for someone to discuss GMAT concepts with in a clear and intelligent way, I highly recommend him. I also studied using curriculum like Target Test Prep, but John helped me tremendously by working through the problems I struggled with step by step and identifying any weak spots in my quant skills. He understands the GMAT and is able to identify the kinds of questions that likely would or would not appear on the exam. Finally, John served as a strong source of moral support throughout a challenging three months of study atop a full time job. When I wanted to try a new curriculum or ask him about tricky questions via email, he would always offer thoughtful feedback in response. His responses were especially helpful when I scored low on practice exams; John's feedback always helped me put things in perspective and helped me get back up and try again. He was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and make time when needed, often on short notice. In short, I couldn't have done it without him!
Nicolas worked with my son on his high school math. My son was having a terrible time in his classes, and Nicolas acted as a guide and tutor though the years. He was very patient and understanding, and always arrived on time for the tutoring sessions. In the end, my son wound up with A's and B's in the classes, and was accepted to his first-choice college. Thanks, Nicolas!
Amazing!! Jeriah is very professional and REALLY cares about the child's education. He is confident in his work and it shows. He is able to change his way of communication so his student is able to comprehend the lesson. Hands down the best tutor we've ever had!! We are extremely thankful for Jeriah and his incredible work ethic and morals.
BEST. ACT. TUTOR. EVER.
I would highly recommend Dan to anyone looking for a quality tutor who is devoted to making sure your child fully understands the subject that he has been hired to teach. He was always prompt and was also very accomodating. Our daughter was having difficulty in AP Physics and asked for help. Fortunately, we hired Dan. She ended up getting an A in the class. He also helped her improve her ACT score. We could not have been happier with the quality of tutoring that Dan provided. He is a true professional in every sense of the word.
Katrina helped me improve my ACT English score from a 30 to a 34 and my ACT science from a 30 to a 33! In only 3.5 hours of tutoring! She is a wonderful tutor!
My stepdaughter has been working with Sylvia for a few months now and we can really see a difference in her math and English (reading, writing, spelling, etc). My stepdaughter actually looks forward to her time with Sylvia, which is so important to us. Sylvia is very patient, personable and knowledgeable. My stepdaughter got very excited yesterday, after she found out that Sylvia is also fluent in Spanish because she would like to start working on that as well. I feel that we really lucked out with finding Sylvia. Soon, my other stepdaughter will be working with Sylvia to prep her for the SSAT!

Darya is great! She helped me prep for the verbal section on the GMAT. She was really patient and taught me very useful tips. She created a in depth study plan that addressed my weakness and kept me motivated. I would totally recommend her.
Joan is the best tutor ever. She is super nice. She is also very smart and good at explaining concepts. It was fun to work with her!
Pete was very nice and professsional. He was flexible and easy with coordinating a meeting time and place working with our busy schedule. He definitely helped our daughter with her Spanish 2 class and finishing strong in her Spanish final.
Jennifer is an excellent tutor. Not only does she identify students' areas for improvement and hones in on them, she also helps them create skills that are transferrable to their schoolwork. Jennifer truly goes above and beyond! She is also much more affordable than most tutors in the Bay, which creates an incredible value.
Brian is a fantastic tutor! I really can't say enough good things about him. He is always well-prepared, thoughtful, and he really knows his stuff. He helped my daughter on the SAT so much. He really transformed the way she thought about and approached the test. He is an all around excellent tutor. He was never stumped by questions my daughter had. What impressed me the most about Brian is how knowledgeable he was on even the smallest grammar detail. I would highly recommend Brian to anyone looking to improve their SAT or ACT scores!
Oscar is one of the nicest people I've ever met. My mother and I were looking for a last minute low budget tutor before my ACT and were lucky to find Oscar. Oscar was well-versed in all the subjects and definitely brought me up a lot of points for both my first and second ACT. However, one of my favorite things to do with Oscar was to talk about what was going on in my life and getting advice on all things athletics, academics, and applying to colleges. All in all I'm sure Oscar has something to bring to the table for every student who needs tutoring.
Drew is a phenomenal tutor! Not only is he a whiz, but he's passionate, energetic and very organized. It's rare to find someone who is a master at both English and Math. Highly recommend.
Alex helped me with my GMAT prep. He was very patient and good at figuring out a personalized strategy for me. I signed up for one of the well known programs but felt that I still needed an extra push. I highly recommend Alex as a tutor to test takers of any level.

I have Bachelors of Arts degree in Math / Secondary Education from University of California, San Diego. I have an experience as tutor / apprentice at several middle schools and as a teaching assistant at San Jose City College. I have had great experiences and an opportunity to work with students of diverse cultures. I have tutored and can tutor K-12 math, science (except physics), college-level calculus, and prep for ACT and SAT tests in mathematics. Teaching is a passion for me. I find that with one-on-one tutoring, students are able to ask more questions and stay focused longer. I love the moment when I witness that the student really understood the concept I am trying to teach. I provide students with variety of problem solving methods, and strive to help them learn. My greatest value to the students is that I provide the necessary background on the subject and the necessary tools for the students to be successful.
I am providing focus, attention, and results! I am committed to providing the best customized assistance to students who are not getting everything that they need inside the classroom. I prefer a one-on-one approach, so that I can adapt my teaching style to specific student needs. My philosophy in tutoring math and science is to emphasize specific strategies that simplify complex problems. For English and literature subjects, I work with students on developing a logical essay structure format, vocabulary, and analytical skills. My intent is to teach skills that last a lifetime! About Me: I graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Currently, I am tutoring part time while I prepare for graduate study at UC Berkeley, where I have been accepted to their number one-ranked civil and environmental engineering program. I enjoy getting to know my students and strive to make my sessions both fun and challenging. I have the knowledge and capability to teach winning strategies for the SAT and to tutor K-12 students at any level; however, my ability to get students to engage with the material helps them achieve the success that they dream of. I have worked with students of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities, with specific experience helping students with ADD/ADHD. I am patient, easy to work with, professional, and fully invested in helping my students succeed. Qualifications: I received professional SAT I verbal, math, and writing training while working with Eureka Review, a renowned Los Angeles-based SAT tutoring company. I tutored students one-on-one in their homes while engaging in a strategy-specific review of SAT math and verbal skills. Students (and parents) were consistently pleased with their level of improvement on tests. Additionally, I worked several years as a sought-after private tutor in my hometown, assisting K-12 students with homework and learning skills in all subjects. I maintained contact with parents to provide progress updates and recommendations for additional study.
