Lindsey turned a rescue monster into a rescue dog. Kasey was out of control with no manners or discipline and Lindsey trained us so that we could train him. She had a flexible schedule and was a pleasure to work with. We are still working with her with Kasey and will use her for future rescue dogs. Her rates were affordable and we always felt we got a great deal out of each session. Kasey made some improvement every time she came over. We are really glad we found this dog trainer.

She is kind, friendly, understanding and just a pleasure for us and our family and friends to be around with. Luisanna did not only attend to what we need help with but went above and beyond her call of duty. Very helpful with all suggestions and very patient with us as well. The bond between Bear and I and our family is now stronger then ever and we thought that we had met with our wits end and being able to help our 7 year old Burmese Mountain Dog mix Bear, but boy was I wrong. Like Luisanna said you can teach an old dog new tricks and if she can do this for our old man Bear imagine what she can do if you have a young pup and she sets you up in the right direction. I recommend her to all my friends and family.

Laureen is awesome! We think the world of her. She is an excellent dog walker and Olive and Marley love her. She always sends pictures and detail about the visits. We use her on a regular basis while we are working and will continue to do so. Highly recommend.

I hired them for cat-sitting services and they are very reliable. They spent time with my two cats, ensured that they were fed and had clean water and a clean litter box, and texted pictures of my two fur-people to me every day to confirm their visit. Natalie, the owner, is very courteous and professional and worked with my schedule to provide the requested services, even over busy holiday seasons. Her staff are all kind animal lovers. I highly recommend them.

805 Paw Lovers Dog Walking & Pet Care Services exceed my expectations. They give great quality service and they REALLY love and make my dogs happy. My dogs wait excitedly for them to come and they enjoy their time together. I feel confident that my dogs are in capable hands and I don't have to worry. They go out of their way to look for my dogs' best interest. 805 Paw lovers enjoy their work, which is important to me because it shows in the care my dogs received. I am truly satisfied and am amazed that they love my dogs as much as I do.

You might look, but you will not find a better nanny for your beloved pets nor a better house sitter than Linda. She will treat your pets and home as if they were her own. When I die, I want to come back as Linda's dog. Truth!

Dara provided ranch sitting and pet sitting services for me. She took care of 4 dogs, 2 parrots, 4 hens and 4 horses. She texted me pictures of the animals while she was caring for them and kept me updated on how they were doing. She caught on quickly to the routine which, I'm sure, made the animals comfortable. I was especially please with her kindness to the critters and her ability to work with the big birds. I would definitely use Dara's services in the future.

Susan is very responsible and a natural with pets!! She had a number of responsibilities for the 2-3 weeks that I needed her. Feeding, walking, playing, companionship, practicing obedience lessons and even sign language reinforcement on walks and in the home and such. My pets are not deaf. We use a combination of verbal and non-verbal communication with our pets. The reinforcement she provides in all-around care cannot be beat! Book her in advance especially for the holidays!!

Dog walks and pet visits, sorry I'm not a pet groomer. I have been pet sitting and dog walking professionally since 2008 and have cared for pets all of my life. In my business I've cared for a variety of pets and have walked many dog breeds. I am currently interested in dog walks and pet visits. I volunteer at the humane society, and have completed a certificate course in Veterinary Assistance to further my knowledge in animal care. I love making sure the animals have everything they need to be comfortable while their owners are away and I always make sure they are safe.

I travel to the customer's homes and I walk their dogs. I provide quality care and protection for the customer's loyal companions per their specifications.

I walk and sit dogs. I've done it a lot of times. I understand how people can be so busy and can't walk their dogs, or have to go out of town where dogs just can't go. I will do everything I can to make sure the dogs are safe and happy.

I am a college student looking to help others in any way I can; one way is by walking dogs, and I am available throughout the week before 4:00 p.m. Over the years, my family has had multiple pets, including dogs. My aunt owned two neo mastiffs. I enjoyed taking them on walks before we had to move and give them up to another loving family. I am motivated to help in any way I can.

The Santa Barbara Flyers is the oldest dog training club in Santa Barbara, having worked and played in the area since 1985. We teach beginning obedience, advanced obedience for AKC competition and agility. We offer approved trials/competitions for the United States Dog Agility Association. We have terrific and experienced teachers whose only objective is to teach you how to have as much fun with your dogs as we have with ours. Our agility classes are held in Santa Barbara on Saturday mornings. The location and days of our obedience classes vary with the season but are always in Santa Barbara.

I can feed, play and walk your doggy and give it lots of love while he is in my care. I can also give it a bath and brush its teeth.

we love dogs and it shows in the way we walk them. they learn we are safe

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
