- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
ABSOLUTELY!!! One of the great things of being in partnership with the American Red Cross is that they help keep me updated.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I had an assistant work for me, Child Care Assistant. She took a required class & received her certificate. I then asked her about the class (of which I attended with her to insure her lectures) & how confident she felt to perform if needed, if I was to leave her with our under 5yrs old students. When her response was, "I'm not confident I don't remember what to do", I did not leave the children with her until I knew she knew what to do in the event of an emergency. I then started asking other Child Care Providers (mind you not certification is our major requirement in order to maintain & have a Ca. License) doing a survey of how confident they are & if they always knew what to do...their response prompt me to add a field of an Instructor of First Aid, CPR, & AED to my profile....and here I am. I since thought parents of children in my care for FREE & members of their family if wanted.
