FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've had the opportunity to be educated by an incredible teacher when I was a child. While my heart belongs to performing and playing with others, I feel that my musical career wouldn't be complete without teaching. I feel the strong need to give back to the world by teaching my students everything I know and communicate my passion of music with my students - children and adults. I started teaching very young and have always enjoyed it. Since the very beginning, I've always maintained a regular teaching schedule and can't imagine doing anything else.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My role as an educator is very varied. For some students, I offer theory & harmony as a complement to regular piano lessons. For others, we will work on audition preparation for college and university. I've also worked with advanced singers looking for a rehearsal pianist or to prepare for musical auditions.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It is important to review the credentials of the teacher. Many closet pianists are improvising themselves teachers as a mean to supplement their income but the truth is, it takes a lot of skills to become a good educator and a few years of studies is not enough. Choose a teacher that has worked with a variety of students in a variety of settings; schools, private lessons, etc. - kids, adults, teenagers, elderly, disabled, etc.
