Ed has been teaching my 9 year old son drum lessons weekly for almost 2 years now. Ed does an exceptional job of keeping the lessons fun while staying structured enough so that my son stays challenged and is constantly learning! My son picks one of his favorite songs that he wants to learn & Ed teaches him the skills needed to do it. This way my son is always motivated to keep learning new skills without feeling like he’s just practicing boring drills. Another thing I really appreciate about Ed is how reliable he is. Over a 2 year period of time, Ed has consistently shown up & been on time. It’s rare to find someone that has such a great balance of knowing how to teach kids, keeping things fun but structured, and being so professional and reliable over time. In addition, Ed recently went totally above and beyond when my son played drums in his school’s talent show. My son played drums to a song while his buddy played guitar. Ed worked with them together at a few practices and helped them coordinate their timing, taught them how to use their mics, and helped them feel confident and ready for their performance. He even helped me pack up all the drum equipment, set it up at the school, and then unloaded it and set it back up at our house! Without Ed’s help, I’m not sure we could have pulled off all of the logistics to make the talent show happen, but they ended up rocking it & loving the experience! I highly recommend Ed if you’re looking for a fun, structured & reliable drum teacher!!

Ed is an amazing drum teacher! He taught my son for a couple years and was so patient with him. He also communicates with kids in a way they understand and won’t feel intimidated to ask questions. When my son would play a certain part of a song wrong, instead of saying, “you played it wrong,” he would always say something positive like “I see why you did that” or something along those lines to give them encouragement. Another great quality I like about Ed is that he’s always on time. Punctuality is so important for me, and when he would do lessons at my house, he would always show up on time, and he would usually remind me with a text about an upcoming lesson so I won’t forget. All in all, I would highly recommend him as a drum teacher!

Hey thank you! Thanks for pointing that out, I work hard to use positive reinforcement because music can be so psychological. Thanks!

As a former educator, I highly recommend Ed’s Drum Lessons. Ed teaches my 9-year-old much more than drums. He uses drums to teach patience, confidence, and perseverance. He engages with his students with a high amount of energy and enthusiasm, which motivates his students and makes them eager to learn. He has helped my shy, slow to warm son, come out of his shell, and become eager to perform drums in front of an audience. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would be able to do that! Every lesson that Ed instructs is teacher-directed and student lead, since he listens to and plans his lessons based on the needs of the individual student. A++++
