FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My desire is to be a good and affordable teacher. I receive payment at the time of the lesson, and—depending on the financial situation of a given student—I also offer a sliding scale.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When it comes to working with a new student, my initial interaction usually begins with an assessment of where they are: what they can play, what knowledge of guitar and music they hold, etc.. Seeing a student play (or not be able to play at all) allows me to witness both their acquired and not-yet-attained technique, which opens us up (as a team) to configuring areas of technical focus. After or before the assessment, we’ll talk about aspirations and what motivates us musically—if we have the motivation, we can build technique towards the aspirations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Music with a focus on classical guitar. Though I stopped playing for some time after college, I have been playing guitar for about twenty years overall. For the last two years, I’ve been reigniting my focus on guitar and have been working with a high-level teacher who has wholeheartedly shifted my playing.
