FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first step in the design process is to meet my new client in the space that will be designed. At (or before) our first meeting, we will discuss the scope of work and the timeline of the project. We will discuss if an hourly rate or a fixed fee is preferable for the size and type of project. If the project is on a smaller scale, an hourly fee is usually the best way to go. We can get going at the first meeting by discussing the items needed, such as selecting paint colors, moving furniture, etc. If it's more involved and the project requires multiple phases of design, a fixed fee is recommended. For the more involved projects, I will send a letter of agreement to the client within 3 business days of the initial meeting. The letter discusses, in detail, the scope of work (i.e. all the items that will be accomplished), as well as the pricing structure and different design phases we will be completing. Once the agreement is approved, signed, and the initial deposit is collected, we begin the work. Federico Design is a full-service design studio, so we offer the option of procurement, which follows the ordering process from start to finish including the delivery and installation of all items. Some clients prefer to purchase on their own, so this is another item that will be discussed at our initial meeting.
