- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Depending on what the clients' needs are, I feel best when we nail down a target audience and a clear, concise voice for the brand or business. Who is voicing the product? Your older millennial sister? Gen X auntie? Your cute grandma? After that is done, drafting copy becomes a streamlined process. I also like to go over any graphic ideas during this phase for banners, logos, and social media posts. Once the website has been live for a few days, then I can check back in on traffic, bounce rate, ratings, and other feedback.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For 13 years, I have been crafting copy and doing digital marketing for a variety of businesses. I started right out of college as an SEO writer. Back then, SEO was still very new and only a handful of people understood it, usually engineers or people who built websites. My first job was working for an engineer who wanted to start selling his services online. He taught me how to do basic website HTML. This way, I could include his desired SEO words into the copy I would write for him already HTML formatted. Since then, the digital marketing field has made incredible leaps and bounds. We have many advanced programs on the market that do all of the SEO for us. As a writer and digital marketer, I am super grateful for all of the little steps I took that created great change in the market today. I know writers like me and engineers like my first freelance client made it possible for all of the technological advancements we see today in SEO. We built it from the ground up, created more streamlined processes, and over time it began to grow like a well watered garden.
