Karen is a dog whisperer! We got a new 8 week year old puppy that's now 4 months old and he was absolutely out of control. He had so much energy and was too smart for his own good. Karen helped us take control as the pack leaders and taught us how to be the Alpha Dog with him. She is more than a dog/puppy trainer, she is a people trainer too. She is extremely knowledgeable and helped us so much. Our pup now listens to us and is so much better on his leash, greeting guests, and finally potty trained! I highly recommend her to anyone in need of training for their sweet pup! :)
Dee Cee came to our apartment and within half an hour I saw immense improvement in the relationship between the dog and the cat. She gave us excellent advice and doesn't ask for repeat sessions. I really appreciated her forthcomingness in not giving us any promises but the promise that she was giving us the tools to succeed.
I boarded my dog for the 4th of July holiday with Superstars stellar home boarding and my dog had a great time playing in the yard and wading pool and was very well rested and calm when I picked him up. I liked that there was only one other dog there and I will definitely use them again.
Cindy took care of my dog and my daughter's 2 dogs for 4 days over the Thanksgiving holiday. We are very happy with their overall concern and good care. Cindy and Darren go beyond the call of duty in all ways! Our dogs were new to boarding and were timid, afraid and confused the first day (two are rescues) but when we saw the pictures Cindy texted us of all three in their beds all happy and resting we knew they were all in good hands. We would recommend them highly for their individual and loving care to each of our dogs. Thanks again!!!!! Marilee and Eliza ( We also feel like we made two amazing new friends!)
Really helped with our out of control dog. Taught him (and then us) how to get him under control; sitting, staying etc. We boarded our dog for over two weeks while he was being trained. Dog seemed happy and wanting to work on the things he learned. We would definitely use them again.
Angela was great; she got us out of a jamb with last minute cat sitting. She's personable and we felt like our kittens were left in good, responsible hands.
I brought my 2 year old male pit bull to Kevin 6 months ago when my dog started experiencing some significant leash aggression towards other dogs. The problem was getting progressively worse and I couldn't walk him with other dogs present (even on the other side of the street). Kevin took him in for training and there has been a huge improvement. My dog is able to walk normally on a leash (doesn't pull like crazy like he used to). He is able to see other dogs on his walk and no longer react (huge improvement!) and he is all around a better trained dog. After the training camp, I had several sessions with Kevin (and my dog walker) and Kevin taught us all the techniques and commands he had used with my dog. Kevin is very responsive and answers all of my questions promptly. I would highly recommend him for training for any dog issues. Kevin also takes dogs in for boarding where he does a little training refresher course. My dog has gone in multiple times since his training whenever I've had to go out of town and my dog really enjoys his time there.
Miki is a great, trustworthy, and reliable pet sitter and walker. She handles my large 3 dogs and cat with ease and has been their "nanny" many times over the years. From walking, overnights to even vet visits, she ensures my dogs and cat are well taken care of. Highly recommend her services, and make sure you ask her for her famous pet treats too, baked from her home!
Petra is great and very patient with our dog Tobi that doesn’t get along with our cat but already after 3 lessons is improving and also learning obedience commands!
Susan is not just a loving care taker of my dog, Max and my cat, Sir Purrs A Lot, but I think she's actually an animal whisperer. She is my daily dog-walker and has also house/dog/cat sat for a week at a time on many occasions. I completely trust her and know that my animals are in great care when she is with them. I would recommend her highly.
Ginny is an excellent pet sitter & a very nice lady. She watched my cat from 12/24 to 12/26 with visits twice a day on Christmas Day. She would send me photos of my cat along with text updates. Would highly recommend Ginny to anyone looking; and we will be using her from now on.
Tracie took care of my cat and pet rat for a week while I was out of town. Both critters happy and healthy when I returned. Would definitely use again.
I used Golden Pet Services once before for a long weekend for cat feeding/litter box cleaning services. The company seems very professional, and setting up the service was seamless (as they have an online booking website). Michael, the owner, was responsive and sent daily photos and updates on the cats. I will definitely use his services again.
This was our first time hiring a cat sitter so my husband & I could go out of town for 2 nights. Kayla did a great job of feeding them, cleaning out their litter boxes , and even playing with one of them. (The other cat is too shy so he hid most of the time, but he was well-cared for.) I left her a list of instructions which she conscientiously followed. I appreciated that she took the time to try to bond with them & make them feel comfortable. She also texted me with a couple of questions & gave me an update on how they were doing. So the next time we go on vacation we will hire her again knowing that our cats will be in good hands.
Leslie boarded my cat for 3 days. She was flexible and the price was reasonable. My cat seemed to have fun particularly with climbing and got some social experience with other people and cats.
I began taking classes with Beth Harrison/A Paw Above last April. Six months prior to that, I adopted what I believed to be the most incorrigible, wild, uncivilized (approximately one year old) rescue dog Id ever imagined. Ive owned a number of dogs in my lifetime, so dog behavior wasnt new to me. But he wasnt housebroken, he ripped through the house, jumping on couches, beds and even kitchen counters, and tore into a window screen to gain access to the house. He chewed up everything he could find and I mean everything with the exception of his own chew toys (of course). After working with a trainer between December and February, I was able to teach Blue (lab/pit mix) some very basic commands and tried to slowly introduce Blue to another dog. Actually, he learned it all very quickly....and was remarkably obedient, until there was another animal (especially a dog) in his universe. We left that training with one MAJOR issue and it tainted every single day of our lives. I still couldnt walk Blue anywhere without him pulling, dragging me and completely flipping out when he saw a bird, cat, lizard, squirrels, roosters (yes, there are some roosters in a yard that backs up to the city wash behind our house), and most especially other dogs. He would flip and leap and lunge and I could barely contain him. I couldnt take him in the car because he would fly at the windows when he saw a dog on the street. He managed to free himself out of four or five different kinds of collars, including harnesses and head collars. He growled and whined and I was afraid he might hurt another dog as I was unable to interpret his reactions. Blue clearly needed the exercise, but I was worn out by the time 20 minutes had gone by. And if he didnt get PLENTY of exercise, he tore up everything in sight....his bedding, water hoses, sprinklers, kitchen towels, shoes, socks, newspapers EVERYTHING. I was beginning to fear that I could not keep this dog. I finally began calling around and met with three different trainers. I chose Beth and Azure from A Paw Above because of Beths confidence and her extensive work with rescue dogs and dogs suffering from abuse and neglect. I also chose A Paw Above because I was allowed and encouraged to observe classes (as many as I needed!) before bringing Blue. Beth assured me that she would help me, even just getting Blue from the parking lot to the door. Classes are generally focused on the dog with the most challenging issues and all the other dogs get to work on the lesson and/or how to deal with other dogs with issues. What I like best is that there is no judgment about a dog or an owner of a dog with issues. No bad dogs. The focus is always on how to help the dogs get past whatever their struggle is. What I also like best is that the first 20 minutes or so is "free play time," so they can release some of their energy prior to concentrating on a lesson or a command. Makes for fewer failures in the training process. Fast forward six months though it is no longer necessary, Blue and I still attend classes on a fairly frequent basis. What a transformation, I have witnessed as Beths take on Blue was that he was not aggressive, but didnt know "how to play," due to lack of exposure and experience. He now romps with the other dogs in class, we can walk in our neighborhood past squirrels and roosters and lizards with ZERO reaction. He still whines some when he sees a cat or dog, but no longer finds the airborne back flips to be a rewarding response, and instead looks to me for reassurance and the understanding that he cant have it. Beth and Azure know their stuff and there are often other students helping out from the local Animal Behavioral College. Choose A Paw Above, for a well-managed, well-behaved dog and a peaceful life.
We love Devyn and Vanessa! They have been walking and boarding our dog for almost a year. Very kind, trust worthy, and they love our dog like their own (or at least we think so :) )
So good! She sent pictures of my cat everyday, and texted updates of what she had done that day and what my cat had done. When I got back, she had a detailed form left of things like litter box uses, feeding and other behaviors. I was really worried about leaving my cat but she made it much easier :)
Wonderful experience for my dogs and cats.
We been clients of Paws for over a year. We've boarded our 13yr-old chihuahua Jacko with Paws 3 times in the past 6 months. There is safe and secure back and front yard and they walk every day. Bob and Mel never disappoint and they have been tremendous in caring for our senior dog, who is pretty persnickety. We wouldn't know what we would do without Paws now when we are away. We even felt bad when we got back to hear that our dog didn't even let them sleep one night but they handled it in such a caring and understanding way. Never do we worry about our dog while we are away. So thank you for your consistent, professional and absolutely caring service for our Jacko. Sheri Dunlevy
Julyana was hired to watch my cat. She returned my messages promptly, came to the house and met with me in advance. She is very personable and I was very impressed with her. A relative wanted to stay at my home last minute and I cancelled, which I felt bad about as she was completely professional with me. I did offer to pay her for her time. Based on my experience with her I would trust her to watch my pets!
