Tim is a fantastic teacher and an exceptional guitar player. I have taken previous classes with other instructors, and there are a few things that make Tim stand out from the rest. He has a profound appreciation for music and an easygoing personality. He works to bring out the student's own creativity, by providing new song links and youtube videos to help the student gain a wider perspective and understanding of music and the guitar. During one lesson, he had me perform clapping exercises with a metronome to develop my rhythm. He has also sent me recorded videos to help reinforce the things we've learned in our lessons. These are things that I have not seen other teachers do. I had a previous teacher who just made me play tedious, un-engaging exercises throughout the entire lesson. And others that would practice the guitar while I performed an exercise. Tim is always present during the lessons, which I very much appreciate. One thing to note is that he structures the lessons based on what the student wants to learn. Overall, Tim is a great teacher. I would highly recommend him and always look forward to our lessons.Apr 17, 2020Verified
I’m really enjoying my weekly lessons with Tim. The virtual guitar lessons work really well, and Tim is a chill guy. I’m learning new songs, scales and chords that fit my style and the direction I want to go musically. He’s really knows his stuff and is a great player. Five StarsApr 17, 2020
My husband and I are both taking lessons, individually, as one of us (me!) isn't learning as quickly. Lessons are at whatever your learning pace is, and tailored to the type of music you like. Tim is incredibly patient, and he makes the lessons fun! Neither of us will ever headline an arena or stadium (because we're old!), but we're getting good enough that we can turn up the amplifier and annoy our neighbors. I've wanted to learn guitar for ages, and found the right teacher, who makes it fun!Feb 2, 2020
I highly recommend Tim Marco. He is an excellent guitar instructor. He worked with our family for several years teaching both adults and preteens. He has the perfect blend of encouragement and high expectation for his students which motivates them to want to practice and continue to improve. He is also able to adjust his teaching style to match the student (kid or adult), meet them where they are and support them to get to the next level. He also happens to be an insanely talented guitarist and performer. We always asked him to play something for us at the end of each lesson, and it was incredibly inspiring to be around someone who has such a passion and talent for the instrument. I would give six stars if I could!Jan 16, 2020
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $35 per hour, $30 for half hour lessons.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically start by assessing the students knowledge of chords, songs and scales. I then tailor my lessons to adapt to their skill level and try to give them the next couple steps forward whether that be technique, a new song, a new chord or scale.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I studied guitar performance/theory at the ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) in London. I was awarded a full ride scholarship to study.
