Been playing tennis since I was young, but slowed down after highschool. I was very rusty, and played with wildly old-school techniques that my last long-term instructor instilled in me… I was looking to find someone that could work with me to improve my game/footwork, correct my form, and give me a solid workout. A lot of other instructors I’ve seen have a tendency to over-correct their student on a first lesson, under pressure to make it “worth while” for them. This usually makes it equally/more stressful on a student. But Mikele gave me an extremely effective and stress free first lesson. Prices may seem high at first glance, but these rates are realistically competitive with other pros *at this level* in LA (I hate to be basic, but you get what you pay for). He improved my game so much in just one lesson with a teaching style that could accommodate everyone from beginners to pros (in my opinion). I will definitely be returning to work with him as much as I can

We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate Mikele’s coaching as beginners in tennis. Mikele did an excellent job of articulating the technical playing. He is always offering tips or positive comments. I highly recommend him to anyone of any level as a tennis instructor.

Mikele is a wonderful coach! He is extremely clear, patient and encouraging. I’ve taken 5 lessons with him over 3 weeks and we’ve gone over everything from serving to strokes to footwork. I came as a total beginner and can actually rally now. He introduces new drills and exercises each lesson to help me improve my technique. He gives real time feedback, which I really appreciate because I can apply it immediately. I would highly recommend Mikele to any person looking to learn how to play tennis!

I'm very happy that I found Mikele! I haven't played tennis for many years, after playing a lot as a kid. Mikele is professional, extremely knowledgable, conveys great analysis, and follows it with effective instruction. The drills are fun, the fitness is great, and I couldn't have found a better coach to get back on the court!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Two people can do one session for the same price. You may inquire about discounts if we do 2 hours twice a week or more.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My typical process is on the mentally challenging side. Most clients are not there to enhance timing on one shot. I do not like to focus on one shot/technique the whole class, particularly for beginners. People need to learn how to hit all different angles in different positions to get a sense of the sport and why it is good to use one technique vs the other. I like when my clients can leave me feeling they have something to work on during their own time if possible because I have given them many things to consider and grow from there. My goal is not to have clients feeling slow progressions as a way to entice them to coming back, until they realize how helpful, insightful, and fun I may be.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

-Childhood coaching from Braemar and Mountain Gate country clubs. Lessons from all available coaches. -UCLA tennis camps -USTA tournaments from the age of 10-18 -previous #10 in the world men ATP and Davis cup player. This person has hired me as his right hand coach to run his nationally ranked junior program. He has given me personal lessons, taught me how to run large groups for high performance tennis classes, how to work with people using different grips/styles.
