FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing a tuning job is dependent on the condition of the piano: Basic Tuning: I charge $160 and that’s for the basic one pass tuning, I schedule extra time to do minor work (adjust pedals, ease keys, etc.) free of charge Pitch Raise: This is for the neglected pianos, usually if it’s been more than a year or 2 since the last tuning. I go through it 2x in one visit, once to pull it up to pitch and once to fine tune. This costs $220 Extreme Tuning Scenario: This is dependent on what the piano is used for and how far off it is, but can involve a 3rd pass or scheduling a 2nd visit. DOA (Dead On Arrival): Just what you think it is - if I deem the piano to not be worth the effort, I’ll refuse to service it. $100. As always, I will discuss the options/pricing before work begins.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I assess the piano’s condition and then discuss with the customer what needs to be done. I usually ask if there’s anything they’d like me to do with it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor’s in Piano Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music
