About
I work with children and adults of all levels, including music theory skills and proper technique. I have over 13 years of experience as a performer and teacher. I also have experience teaching young children with Autism, Dyslexia and ADD/ADHD. I offer both group and private lessons, as well as chamber music coaching and audition preparation. Various sizes of instruments available for use during the first lessons for no additional charge. I'm happy to help with violin and keyboard purchases once we know if your child expresses interest in playing. Discounted private and group rates available for home-schooled children and military families.

VERY impressed with the first lesson from Jamie for my brand new 14 year old violin player. She was kind, thorough and methodical in her approach to the lesson and my son is excited about learning this new instrument! She also followed-up with a detailed review of the lesson as well as what he should practice via email. We're VERY excited to have found Jamie!!

Jamie is an excellent music tutor. You can see her love of music and learning and her desire to share this with others. She is very professional in all her communications and arranging sessions with us. Jamie has a calm, warm and focused approach when teaching our young son and I really appreciated the great summary she gave me at the end each session. She even provided me with tips and games to play in between sessions to continue the learning. I would definitely recommend Jamie others looking for music tutoring!

Details: Younger than 6 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training • What the teacher recommends • No, the student does not have either • 30 minutes • I travel to the piano teacher • The piano teacher travels to me

Jamie Wright is an inspiration! Even though I arrived without an instrument, our first session lasted about an hour. Because of her experience, passion, and patience, she was able to teach me how to begin reading basic notes, play “pizzicato,” and use the bow on one of her violins. She provided lots of information and techniques for me to use during practice time and information on how to get an instrument. WOW

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Each lesson includes music theory, music history, and instrument study with 5 minutes set aside to review progress with the student and parent simultaneously.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I recommend finding a teacher who is eager to discuss progress and goals with the parent and student after each lesson. This time should be used to show any major technique to watch for during the week's practice and an overview of progress since the prior week. This keeps an open communication line between student, teacher, and parent, which ensures greater progress and results.
