I initially had lessons from Mr. Moss via group study at a UCLA Extension weekend program. I had a good ear, but I did not have any real familiarity with playing guitar. I was truly amazed at Lloyd's ability to teach and explain it in a way that ALL students were able to play a short song at the end of the first class! It was a tremendous confidence booster, and takes a great skill to be an effective teacher. Moreover, he was able to use different approaches and styles of music to help me and my fellow students. After the program I continued with private study in both guitar and bass and consider him to be a truly gifted teacher. Summer

Lloyd is a true professional and expert at his craft; it has been a pleasure learning from him. He has the experience necessary to craft lessons to the student's music preferences, and pays real attention to what the student would like to learn. I recently moved to LA and had two lessons so far with Lloyd. I have some previous guitar experience, but not much. I wanted to learn a combination of theory and songs, and Lloyd has been giving me a great mix of both. It is refreshing to find a teacher who can articulate principles of music theory in a fun way!

Lloyd has been a wonderful teacher for me. I'm 59, and decided this was the year I would learn to play the guitar, which I've long wanted to do but never tried. The last time I played a musical instrument was the piano in elementary school. I.e. I'm almost the definition of a late-in-the-game beginner. Lloyd is smart, kind, and loves music (and it shows). Most of all, Lloyd is patient but also always on the lookout for any sign of progress; he gets excited when he realizes the person he's teaching is self-motivated. I have a full-time job, of course, but I also have managed to find 5-10 minutes/day, often a couple of times per day like the beginning and end of each day, for small amounts of consistent practice; and Lloyd has noticed what I'm getting (and what I'm not yet getting) and stepped up his expectations and homework for me at the perfect pace. The result is that I can see, hear, and feel progress every week. Learning guitar from Lloyd has been pure fun. I feel like I got very lucky finding him.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out what here she is interested in and we talk about the steps that will be taking to get him or her to that goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've taught guitar at UCLA continuing education and studied with numerous teachers over the years including the guitarist from Supertramp. Carl Verheyen and Steely Dan's guitarist, Jay Graydon.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Do NOT under any circumstances feel obligated to sign up for a "batch" of four lessons or more. Try one lesson out with each teacher that has submitted a bid. You want to see if one of us is the right fit for you.
