Sarajane has tutored my kids (currently in 3rd and 6th grade) for the past two years in various areas of study, including math, reading/writing and ISEE prep. In every case, she has come well-prepared, with innovative ways to teach the material. For example, when I asked her to help my 3rd grader with reading aloud, she found some readers theater passages to make reading fun and engaging. My child loved it! She always comes prepared with a well thought out, customized study plan and related study guides, designed to make each lesson as effective as possible. Thanks to her help and support, my 6th grader has blossomed into a confident math student. She also helped my 6th grader raise her ISEE scores substantially. She is always professional, on time and well-prepared. What can I say, Sarajane rocks our world and I recommend her without reservation!

We chose Sara to tutor our daughter after meeting her and discussing her educational background and method of engaging with our daughter. On these points I found Sara well suited to tutor our daughter in Math studies as well as Engineering. After choosing an agreeable meeting schedule, Sara was always on time and prepared to work with each lesson plan, often working out the plan for the day via text so that both, Sara and our daughter could get the most out of the session time together. Sara was flexible with the schedule and able to change some of the meetings to coincide with a test. We have seen improvement with test scores which I am sure are a direct result of Sara ability and professionalism. We will continue to have Sara tutor our daughter in the coming school year and highly recommend her service to anyone looking for their child's educational challenges to improve.

Sarajane has tutored two of my children for the ISEE. Both children scored well. Sarajane helped them to stay Focused on the material and not to be stressed about the Test. I appreciated her calming demeanor in her tutoring style. I highly recommend her for tutoring.

Sarajane initially tutored our daughter to help prepare her and ease her anxiety for the ISEE. As a result, she was completely confident going into the test and scored very well. Then, when she was feeling a little shaky in middle school we, again, enlisted Sarajane's expertise to help clear up her confusion in a variety of subjects. Sarajane adeptly covers all subjects and our daughter has really enjoyed working with her. She is very patient, encouraging, thorough and capable. She does her best to be accommodating and flexible with working around your schedule. I highly recommend working with Sarajane!

SJ was a tremendous help in preparing our daughter for the ISEE and HSPT tests. We know that statistically, preparation isn't supposed to make a difference. However, as time went by her practice scores, speed and confidence improved all the way up until the test days thanks to the help from SJ. We also had the bad luck of our daughter placing into an advanced algebra class and the teacher leaving midway through the year for maternity leave. The substitute wasn't great so we had SJ help with math through the rest of the year and our daughter got an A. We were very please with SJ and highly recommend her.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I, as the founder, have a Master's and Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from USC and Yale respectively. Though I studied engineering, I have always had a passion for education and have worked in the education industry for over 15 years. I frequently partner with organizations to provide courses on private school and college entrance exams. Each of our tutors is either a current student or a graduate of a top university. Our tutors also come with a variety of experience in areas such as tutoring, teaching, mentoring and youth development.
What types of customers have you worked with?
At Climbing Ivy, we work with any students and families seeking academic enrichment. We often work with students for college admissions and collegiate application preparation. Additionally, we have worked with students on private school entrance exams (ISEE, HSPT, SSAT) and college entrance exams (SAT, ACT), as well as school subject tutoring. While we love tutoring all subjects, we hold a special place for STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
