I would highly suggest Michael Davidson as a tutor. I am 43 years old and had been out of school for quite a while, but because of the tutoring I got from Michael, I passed my math GED test with flying colors! He is very knowledgeable, helps you to figure out which areas that you need to focus on the most and explained different ways of how to handle the math problems. He also provided positive inspiration to help me get through the toughest of math problems and cheered me on to the end! Thank you again for everything, Michael!

I am not one to leave a ton of reviews for services and I have had mixed success with Thumbtack, but I think this man is an unsung hero!!! My daughter has struggled in math for years, since grammar school, and is now in 8th grade. She continued to struggle with a different tutor. We have been working once a week with Mr. Matlak now for about six weeks and the difference is simply amazing. She just got her first "A" in a math quiz since grammar school and we both nearly cried in relief and joy. The two most important things about him - he KNOWS the concepts cold (some tutors DON'T), and he is PATIENT. I came to the conclusion that my daughter simply would not get the pace of learning or individualized attention in the public school setting that she needs for this particular topic. She is doing well in other topics but math is her Achilles heel. I didn't have the patience (or the knowledge) to help much and it became a source of frustration for both of us. It is such a RELIEF to see her more confident and not stressed about math now!! I can't say enough good things about Mr. Matlak. He promptly answered my inquiries, quickly provided two references who gave glowing reviews, and we are so happy to have him. We didn't want to go the Sylvan or other company routes - Mr. Matlak comes to your home, sits down with your student, and gets to work. I can't believe I did not invest in my child's future earlier in her school career - it is well worth it. We do an hour a week and it has made a VAST difference. I have no relation to Mr. Matlak (other than to sing his praises) and I would be happy to provide anyone interested with additional comments. Update April 22, 2015: Our daughter continues to work with Ray weekly and is now pulling a "B" average, coming up from the "D" average she was pulling when we started. Not struggling and spending so much time on math has allowed her to focus on her other classes and encouraged her to bring her other grades up as well as she prepares to enter high school. We couldn't be more pleased to see our daughter's confidence growing with respect to math. We'll keep him through COLLEGE if he's willing!! All kidding aside, Ray is well worth the investment, even if your budget calls for less frequent tutoring sessions.

Great ACT Tutor! Joyee is a great ACT tutor. He is patient, encouraging, and has deep insight into the type questions the current ACT tests include. We engaged Joyee to help my daughter with her ACT - focusing on Science and Maths. Her initial diagnostic test results were decent - 33 out of 36. After two months of Joyee’s help, my daughter proceeded to take her ACT in September. She received the perfect score - 36 out of 36. We are very happy with her results and she couldn’t have gotten the perfect score in such short period of time had we not engaged Joyee. Mr. Reid has helped me raise my grade from an F to an A in Pre-Calculus. Furthermore, he helped me train for the ACT. His tutoring is just phenomenal!

I had such a great experience. Before attending tutoring I got a C on my first math test, but after a couple sessions I got an A on every assignment including the midterm and final. I ended the semester with an A in my College Algebra class. She is such a great tutor and really helpful, I highly recommend!

Nancy's is the best tutor I've ever had I have 3 boys and 1 girls and I have had over 15 different tutors over the years and by far she is the best I have had she is everything I am as far being stern but she brings the softness that the student needs to get the best out of them my daughter did not bond with the three tutors before Nancy but she really loves Mrs Nancy as she calls her and she look forward to her session every week. I hired her to teach my daughter Spanish who has never taken before and she already can write and speak Spanish in less than two months she was so good I ask if she does any other subjects and of course she does it all so now she tutors my daughter in math and her grade went from a C to an A she makes sure the student understands the topic before she moves on and she won't budge or go any further unless the student totally understands it. If your looking for top shelf tutor look no futher and for the price it's a win win for me and my daughter thanks for making my daughter experience a total success.
