Introduction: I put a lot of thought into bringing the right training program to the table for each horse/rider combination. I'm lucky in that my farm has many excellent lesson horses, and I can match my students to the right horse and challenge them in ways that are unique to them. I love the ah-hah moments that students experience - when things just start to click and there's real communication between horse and rider.

The stables are very different from what I'm used to but Kate's knowledge and her ability to convey a direction clearly is really marvellous. I'm so happy to have found her. I have some physical issues that can be daunting or frustrating to a trainer and they don't seem to phase her at all. I really believe I'll make good progress working with her and am very excited about the future.

Kate agreed to teach my 8 yr old granddaughter how to ride. This little girl is shy and a bit anxious so i too was nervous. Kate never skipped a beat in working with her in that she was kind, patient and pleasant, but did not for a second compromise the importance of the lesson or any safety matters. We will definitely go back. for a very long time if all goes well.

Kate is very knowledgeable and communicates well with her students. She is enthusiastic, patient and kind, and able to be firm and professional but always fun. Our 10 year old daughter Ella has been riding with Kate for about 2 years. We cannot say enough about how wonderful Kate is for Ella and all of the other kids at the barn. She builds their self-confidence, their leadership skills, and has high expectations of them...all in a low pressure environment which is an usual magical combination. It goes with our saying that Kate's riding is exceptional and her dedication to all things equestrian is superlative. She trains Ella to ride her best, every ride, but somehow manages to make the hard work FUN. She pushes Ella and the kids to be their best and they are eager to please her and make her proud. And in turn, she helps them be proud of their accomplishments. Last Summer we bought a horse for Ella - we didn't know where to begin. Kate helped us every step of the way to get the absolute right match for Ella. A few months later when Ella developed some fears, Kate worked with Ella to overcome her fears and develop as a stronger rider. Kate works tirelessly, night and day, at the barn for the kids and the horses. The kids all want to hang around and watch Kate instruct the other kids because they learn so much just by watching. Sometimes Kate will bring in experts for specific clinics and this has always been a huge learning experience for the kids. Kate also organizes many fun shows so the kids can get a taste of riding competitively. And as if this is not enough, in Jan 2017, Kate gave Ella the riding goals they had written down for 2017...we were so pleased that, with Kate's guidance, Ella achieved every one of them. I can't say enough about this amazing young woman and how fortunate we feel to have her influence and presence in our daughter's life. She is an all-around, phenomenal role model for kids.

I take regular lessons from trainers in various disciplines. This keeps me challenged and learning and passionate - things that are important in this field!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't be afraid to ask if you can come watch a lesson before hiring! I like an instructor to move around the arena a lot, to offer concrete suggestions for improvement, and to request feedback from the rider regularly.
