FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing works as follows; a typical front or backyard design will run normally $500, this includes all appointments necessary and 6 copies of the plans. If you want front & backyard plans, typically the cost will be $750.00. My rates go up from there depending on the complexity and size of the project. My rates are based on how long I am figuring it will take to meet with the clients, do the actual design work and any revisions.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I travel to the client's home and discuss their expectations for the space, we will walk it and I can then give my suggestions for the best use of the area for the functions that the family has for the space. I will then be able to give the client a price for my services and they decide if they want to contract my services. If the client decides to commit, I can then perform a site analysis and take measurements of the space and take photos for reference. I will take the information back to the studio and create a design based on the information gathered during our meeting. I then will schedule a follow-up appointment, and we will review the initial design and make any changes that the client decides are necessary. I will then go back to the studio and make the changes to the design. At this point, I will email virtual photos of the changes made for the client to approve, then typically we are ready to finalize the plan. I will include as many follow up appointments as may be necessary to get the plans to the client's satisfaction. The more complex the concept, the more time this may take. At this point, I will deliver typically 6 sets of plans to the client along with a booklet of full color virtual photos of the project. My name & contact information is on the plans in case the contractor has any questions or needs to contact me for any reason. I have installers that I work with that I will recommend if the client wants a referral for a reliable contractor.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education is both college and practical on the job. I have a degree in Ornamental Horticulture with an emphasis on Landscape Design. I have over 40 years of practical experience working in the field installing, designing, maintaining and building residential landscapes and swimming pools. This is important because I know what works and what doesn't, which plants work and which ones don't, and how large that cute little plant will eventually get. This is important, for plant knowledge will keep you from having to replace plants or move plants because they aren't the right one for the space they are planted in.
