Hi! I’m Maria. I’m the owner and dog trainer of Maria’s K9 Legacy. My mission is to help build the connection between you and your pack by being able to properly communicate through dog psychology and various training methods. I am a balanced trainer and use various tools depending on what will be the most effective for the dog and what the owner feels comfortable using. I believe that all dogs should be treated as individuals, as just like humans, we are not the same. Our first step will always be working on building a solid relationship and foundation within your pack.

Maria was wonderful to work with! As a first-time dog owner, I was feeling overwhelmed and unsure if I was doing the right things. She took the time to answer all of my questions, explain the reasoning behind her recommendations, and reassure me that training is about setting clear boundaries—not being “mean.”
She observed Snowy, went on a walk with us, demonstrated leash techniques, and created a realistic plan tailored to our specific potty-training challenges. I especially appreciated that she never made me feel judged and acknowledged that what I was experiencing was a lot of work.
She even stayed beyond our scheduled time to make sure all of my questions were answered and encouraged me to text her with updates, which gave me a lot of confidence moving forward.
I’m excited to put her plan into practice, and I’m so grateful for her patience, knowledge, and encouragement. I highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a thoughtful and supportive dogtrainer!

Saw results the next day!!
I was at my wits end, my dogs behavior was out of control- accidents, barking, attachment issues…
It’s been 5 days… only 2 accidents, barking improved 95%, attachment issues improving.
Diagnosed an issue I did not even realize! I thought one of my dogs
was independent…turns out she needed more socialization, build her confidence, already seeing improvement with this as well.

If I could rate 10 stars I would. I've worked with other trainers at bigger agencies and did not get the results from several of those visits that I got today with Maria. These two pups have only been cohabitating for 6 days! She guided me on how to appropriately redirect my pups, how to stop my 2 year old dog from leash pulling on walks, and gave me such valuable information on boundaries and structure. I feel so well supported by this team of professionals and know they are there for me when I need them. 10/10 experience. Highly recommend this wonderful team!

Along with getting a dog to be a service animal, finding and connecting with Maria has been the biggest blessing. I’ve never had a pet and somehow was terrified of a 3.5lb 8 week old fresh puppy. Although she trained Warren, most of the work was with me. He picked up the lessons and new behaviors so quickly. I needed to have a big shift in order for this to work and Maria was always by my side coaching me. I’m grateful to have a highly, well trained service dog and navigate through the world safely. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
On our first session I will be evaluating your dog and we will be discussing what you need help with and what is needed to move forward with building a proper relationship. We will create a game plan with homework so that you are set up to continue training until the next session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 5 years of experience in dog training, working and mentoring under various top dog trainers and programs. I started training service dogs and went on to learn about other aspects such as dog psychology and behavior. I am also an AKC (American Kennel Club) evaluator.
