Hi! I’m Maria. I’m the owner and dog trainer of Maria’s K9 Legacy. My mission is to help build the connection between you and your pack by being able to properly communicate through dog psychology and various training methods. I am a balanced trainer and use various tools depending on what will be the most effective for the dog and what the owner feels comfortable using. I believe that all dogs should be treated as individuals, as just like humans, we are not the same. Our first step will always be working on building a solid relationship and foundation within your pack.

Maria was wonderful to work with! As a first-time dog owner, I was feeling overwhelmed and unsure if I was doing the right things. She took the time to answer all of my questions, explain the reasoning behind her recommendations, and reassure me that training is about setting clear boundaries—not being “mean.”
She observed Snowy, went on a walk with us, demonstrated leash techniques, and created a realistic plan tailored to our specific potty-training challenges. I especially appreciated that she never made me feel judged and acknowledged that what I was experiencing was a lot of work.
She even stayed beyond our scheduled time to make sure all of my questions were answered and encouraged me to text her with updates, which gave me a lot of confidence moving forward.
I’m excited to put her plan into practice, and I’m so grateful for her patience, knowledge, and encouragement. I highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a thoughtful and supportive dogtrainer!

I’ve been doing my training with her and my reactive dog, I have a 1 year old Jack Russell that is aggressive and reactive and wasn’t able to get within a few steps close to another dog, after a few sessions I’ve already seen progress and then when she went to the day camp she was able to play with another dog! It melted my heart to see her so happy! 10 outta 10!

We loved working with Maria! Our dog Denny had some issues with leash reactivity and Maria spent time walking with us in our neighborhood and at the dog park to get Denny more comfortable on the leash. He’s improved significantly and now we know how to address and remaining reactivity behavior more effectively. Maria was available, responsive, professional and friendly!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer discounts on multiple sessions booked. Payment needs to be in advance.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
On our first session I will be evaluating your dog and we will be discussing what you need help with and what is needed to move forward with building a proper relationship. We will create a game plan with homework so that you are set up to continue training until the next session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 5 years of experience in dog training, working and mentoring under various top dog trainers and programs. I started training service dogs and went on to learn about other aspects such as dog psychology and behavior. I am also an AKC (American Kennel Club) evaluator.
