Pros: Jasper was prompt in responding, punctual, friendly, and completed the work quickly. I was impressed that he finished this project in one day; whereas other contractors seemed to indicate it was more work and more difficult. I would hire him again. Some areas he can improve: There were a couple of minor areas that were knicked on our kitchen island that I didn't notice until cleaning up. Also, I think he could have done a little better cleaning up the island- wiping down the cabinet fronts that had a light layer of dust (I did this myself). Finally, I gave him a box of stain & top coat that the previous owners left to us. He applied them but I noticed they didn't leave the counter shiny, like the finish we had before he sanded. After Jasper left, my husband realized we were missing the water sealant coat which we had in the garage. So now we are applying this coat ourselves to make the island water- proof and give it the same shine. This isn't totally Jasper's fault since I gave him the supplies but I would have liked if he would have noted that something seemed to be missing or off (or given his recommendations on what he would have stained/sealed it with to make sure the wood stayed water proof.) Overall, I'm happy with the work.
I work in the construction industry as a project manager. I am not sufficiently knowledgeable in piping/plumbing to perform the work myself (as I tend to create more issues than resolve them). I needed a shower valve replaced that I had managed to break at home while trying to make some repairs. Gerardo not only gave a great price, but his attention to detail, craftsmanship and experience was above my expectations. I was and am very pleased with how everything went. He was clean, very friendly and I enjoyed his company. I hope to use him on all piping/plumbing needs in the future.

Working with Juan was a terrific experience. He is very transparent about setting expectations: what is he going to do, how is going to do it and how long will it take. He will get the work done in a timely and clean manner. We were able to book him in advance (which was about 2 weeks prior) but I understand he will do his best to accommodate clients on a shorter notice. If you have been struggling with other handymen/contractors (as I was!) I truly recommend you to use Juan's services - he is super easy to work with and very reliable.
Hired to do some small home repairs for putting our home on the market. Did a great job and would hire again. Arrived on time, did quality work and cleaned up at the end of each day.
Remove tile from existing fireplace and replace with stone. Frame out kitchen island with wainscoting. Garret and his team were very efficient, on time and had attention to details. The projects performed were redo's from the housing contractor who did shotty work, walls not flushed, etc. SOTA was very meticulous in making sure everything met up correctly and looked they way it should. They kept the areas cleaned and made sure to clean up after themselves. Stayed late to get the project completed. I would use them again in a heart beat and recommend them for interior improvements.
I was helping my daughter find a contractor for siding replacement. Carlos contacted me soon after my request for quotes. I asked him questions more than once, since my daughter kept coming up with more. Carlos was very responsive, answering the questions quickly and professionally. Even though my daughter decided on another contractor, you can't not notice an obvious regard for the customer that will more than likely be reflected in his work.
I highly recommend Kris Kaehler and Economy Home Repair. During our initial consultation, Kris was receptive to my project goals, knowledgeable of the industry and market, and candid in giving feedback on what would work well. He gave very good suggestions for exterior paint colors and a clear timeline for completing the job. Because of his professionalism and attention to detail, I asked him to work on interior painting of my entire home, installing floors, and updating two bathrooms. I am more than pleased with his crew's work and staying on schedule. Throughout the exterior and interior projects, Kris was accessible to my calls, informed me of both progress and issues, offered solutions, respected my home, showed regard for my neighbors, looked after his crew's well being, and insisted on doing outstanding work. He is straightforward in his approach to the job and has high standards of workmanship for himself and his crew. If I had any more work to have done, I certainly would ask Kris to consider taking the job!
We went from framed to frameless shower enclosure and when the old glass was removed, we quickly realized we needed to make tile repair prior to installing the new glass. We decided to have a different company make the repair. Owner, Michael Compton of Compton Construction quickly responded to my Thumbtack post, set up an estimate appointment and provided me with an estimate the same day. A repair appointment was set up immediately and all was repaired, cleaned up and perfect in just one visit. This was a smooth and fast repair. Michael is great to do business with. He's easy going and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend Michael Compton Construction and will certainly use them again. Five gold stars!!! So happy to find Compton on Thumbtack. I hired them to lay the engineered bamboo floor in my condo. They did exactly what promised and in the time they originally specified. I have been doing remidelling and construction of my rentals and my resident for the last 10 years and very much familiar with the business. Out if many contractors or handymen i met Jason and Regina are the outstanding team. They work fast, they are very proactive and attentive to details. And their price was reasonable. What is the most important for me is that they do listen to my suggestions - not like many macho style contractors:). The floor work looks absolutely great and i am very happy. So that i would like to hire them for other work on my rental property.

We hired MJH Construction Management to complete renovations of our recently purchased home. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, MJH determined the best solutions to a number of complex repairs and additions including floor leveling, heating, plumbing and electric. MJH helped us choose several improvements like changing the floor plan for better use of space, installing a gas fireplace as well as a bathroom and kitchen upgrade. MJH oversaw the contractors to ensure the work was completed and billed correctly. Throughout the process MJH kept us apprised of the costs and schedule - there were no surprises. We are delighted with the results - our renovated house came out fantastic.
I hired Sergey to do a full remodel of one floor (~1,500 sq. ft.) of a house in the Richmond in San Francisco. Full gut of kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and rebuilding of a small extension. The whole space was painted and floors were refinished. Nothing was left untouched. On communication: Sergey is very, very responsive. He will answer all texts, phone calls, emails etc. and if he happens to miss a call (which almost never happened), he returns it in minutes or sends a text to let you know when he can talk. On value: The quality of work is very good. Sergey works with a contractor named Artur who is a whiz at his job. Artur fixed every problem, made a few things I thought were not possible happen, and he was just really, really great. Between Sergey and Artur, they were able to realize the vision I had of my house. We were not significantly over budget. I do wish that Sergey had a better system for reimbursement of receipts. For example, Sergey bought things like trim, siding, and extra plumbing parts that I was to reimburse him for. Though I asked him for receipts multiple times, Sergey would show me pictures of receipts on his phone piecemeal and each receipt contained other purchases of rough materials that he was to be responsible for. Just confusing and difficult to do an accurate accounting. I just ended up paying him what he told me was the amount for all the reimburseable purchases without really seeing the receipts. Do I feel like Sergey fluffed the receipts? No, but I still would have liked a clear accounting of them. Overall, there are little details that were missed like small scratches in the refinished floors possibly made by ladders or tools, areas where paint wasn't retouched, socket plates that were installed sort of loose etc. BUT I am being picky and I can live with those little things. This next bit is the important part. Sergey has continuously made trips here and had workers come fix little things even after this project is technically done. This is a huge bonus and shows a sense of responsibility toward the project and pride in his quality of work that is certainly appreciated. On timeliness: This is where my biggest gripes lie. This was a 4-month project and we took 5 months to complete. Everyone expects delays in construction and I did too. But, it's the way in which the delays happened that frustrates and still irritates me. Work here was about 85% done by the end of month 4. We scheduled movers at the end of month 5 because Sergey promised that everything would be 100% finished in the extra month's worth of time. 10% of the remaining work was dragged out for the next three weeks. I let Sergey know again and again that movers were already scheduled for a certain Friday and that everything had to be finished before then. Sergey said ok and since the only work left to be done was installing all lights, light switches and socket plates, I felt relatively good about everything. The entire week before move-in day, no work happened. Sergey told me all of his workers were coming Friday to do the remaining work. I could not believe this. Friday was move-in day and I had told him I needed time for cleaners to come since everything was very dusty from the construction. There is no other way to summarize the end of the project other than to call it a complete and unmitigated disaster. Sergey had 4 people working while we had movers moving things in and since Sergey had told me cleaners could come that Friday, we had cleaners there at the same time. Things still were not finished and instead of being able to use that Friday night and Saturday to unpack, work was still ongoing so we had to cram all unpacking into that one Sunday. Also, since Sergey had said the house would be ready for cleaners, I hired people to do a move-in clean for $450 which ended up being a total waste because workers were still creating messes everywhere. There was no accountability on Sergey's part for this. The amount of stress created because of the blown timeline was huge. Overall: Basically, everything was going great for 95% of the project. There were small hiccups, a little bit of tension and miscommunication here and there, but honestly everything was going pretty well for such a large project. I am still sour about the end of the remodel which Sergey knows and understands. The project just did not have to end this way and it was his job to make sure of that. However, I do have to emphasize that Sergey is continuing to come back and take care of small issues such as installing toilet paper holders, a heating grate that had been lost but turned up, fixing our shower fixture handle so the water could get hotter, etc. It's been almost a month since we moved in and as time passes, I feel less angry about the end of the project mainly because I am really enjoying the space Sergey created for me and because he is still responsive and taking care of leftover project odds and ends. Will I hire him again? I'm not sure. We have a lot more large-scale work to be done so we will need contractors soon again, but it's hard to say right now. However, it's a strong possibility.
I am highly recommending the service of Shaz Construction Company. Shaz is ideal contractor to work with. Shaz made sure the quality of work, kept on schedule and followed our cost and design specifications. Shaz efficiently overcomes obstacles and works diligently with city inspectors, and architects to make sure the project goes smoothly. The result is a truly beautiful building. It was a pleasure to work with Shaz and his staff. He stated from the start that he is committed to his projects, and has never backed down from that promise.
We were lucky enough to find and hire Michael McGuire as our general contractor. The scope of our job was quite large, as it was a complete home remodel. Our remodel included a new addition, new kitchen, new bathrooms with a complete new interior and exterior design plan with modern upgrades to each space. Michael worked with our architect to design a new home that fit both our design aesthetic and our budget. Michael not only assisted in the design process but carried out every vision perfectly. His communication with us throughout the entire process was excellent. As plans changed and unexpected issues arose (which was to be expected), Michael always had options lined up that were not only satisfactory but timely. We get compliments regularly by people walking by our home. We couldn't be happier with all his interior finish work as well. He is not only an excellent general contractor but a true craftsman.
