Introduction: As a speaker I customize EVERY talk I give. While there are predictable components each talk is different because it directly speaks to issues and items the event planner or sponsor wants included. Also, my story is unique. Usually meeting planners and sponsors want me to include my story which does help to captivate and inspire audiences. My story is that I am blind and was in the World Trade Center working as a sales manager on September 11, 2001. I was in my office on the 78th floor of Tower One. After the attack I arranged for guests in my office to get to the stairs and only then did I and a colleague start our way down 78 floors. Along the way I helped others to stay focus and not panic. We also met first responders on the stairs. Finally after escaping we were 100 yards away from Tower Two when it collapsed. Having said all that my story is only in a small part about my escape and survival. The real story is how I grew up as a blind person and finally got to the World Trade Center in the first place. I like traveling and meeting with audiences and sponsors. Through my interactions I believe I learn at least as much as I teach. I also love learning afterward how my talks help others, something I hear a lot.

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University chose Mike Hingson as a speaker because of his obvious human-animal bond message. We knew he would be interesting to our audience of alumni, students, and community members. What we didn't expect was how much he would go above and beyond our basic needs for a speaker -- in the months leading up to his arrival, he proactively contacted us to offer to be "kept busy" during his visit. By the time he arrived on our campus, we had worked out additional seminars on diversity and inclusion with our faculty and staff, motivational talks with students, and so much more. He is so generous with his time and talent. Once you book Mr. Hingson for a speaking engagement, you will find that you have someone who is truly interested in delivering exceptional value and tailoring his visit to your needs. He is the definition of "pleasant to work with," and honestly, by the time his visit came to an end, we wished it could last longer. Yes, he has a compelling story to share about 9/11, but that's just the tip of the iceberg of motivating and relevant messages he is able to share.

Michael Hingson presented a motivational speech to the Sacramento Valley Association of Legal Administrators at their annual Leadership Luncheon. In his speech on Trust and Teamwork, Mr. Hingson inspired the audience through his personal story of how he survived the terrorist attacks on September 11th with the help of your guide dog, Roselle. With great detail, he shared his personal testimony of survival with very effective techniques that gave the audience the ability to connect the skills he used to their own personal and professional environments. With his current guide dog Africa by his side, Mr. Hingson also shared valuable life lessons that can only be learned through Guide Dog Wisdom and the values that come with such a bond. It was such a pleasure to work with Mr. Hingson and would heartily recommend him to other organizations who desire a professional, inspirational, and experienced speaker for conferences, conventions or other gatherings. He was a true partner in the success of our event and a truly inspiring person.

A couple of years ago Michael Hingson, along with his guide dog Africa, spoke to the Fellowship Forum, an organization of active and retired professionals that meets weekly in Palo Alto, CA. to hear distinguished speakers talk on a wide variety of subjects. Michael’s talk was one of the highlights of the year. His description of what he and his hero guide dog, Roselle, experienced on the September 11th Twin Towers attack was riveting. Michael’s talk also included thought provoking and motivational life lessons, that one is never to old to hear. He has an engaging manner and sense of humor, that connects to his audience. The Fellowship Forum is considering asking Micheal to come back as a speaker. Phil M.

I am a high school Engish teacher just outside of Chicago and just under four years ago my students built a project to help remember 9-11. They decided that they wanted to raise money to bring Michael Hingson in to speak to the class and community. Michael was tremendously easy to work with and exceptionally accessible. It was very easy to organize the visit, as Michael helped to organize it around another area visit in an effort to cut our costs. When Michael spoke with the students, who had read Thunder Dog, he was so personable and informative. The students benefitted tremendously from the experience. During the evening event for the community many people were moved to tears as Michael shared his personal story. Since visiting Michael has stayed in contact, visiting a second time for a lower fee, as well as working to organize Skype sessions with current students who are reading his text. I have worked with a number of authors and Michael has easily been the easiest to work with and has been the best at keeping correspondence and staying in touch. I would highly recommend Michael as a speaker if you are looking for someone to speak about 9-11, Blindness or Teamwork...as he did a great job with all of these subjects with us.

Home for Life Animal Sanctuary invited Michael Hingson to be our special guest and keynote speaker at our annual fundraising gala in 2014. Our supporters were very interested in hearing the first hand account of someone who had survived 9/11, especially with the dramatic elements involved in Mike's real life account of how he managed to escape thanks to the partnership he had with his guide dog. Michael was so generous with his time, signing books for our guests and graciously talking with them and answering questions. His presentation concerned compelling subjective matter- surviving 9/11 and it's aftermath, but Michael had our audience riveted -we felt s if we were experiencing what he went thru that day. He also spent setting the context, so our audience could understand and appreciate the development of Michael's rapport and working relationship with his guide dogs over his lifetime. In terms of the subject matter and ability to keep our attendees' interest during the presentation,Michael hit the ball out of the part. We were so glad to have chosen to invite him to be our special guest for our gala, and so grateful for his extraordinary presentation which made our event truly special. Thank you Michael and Africa!
