I offer flexible music lessons locally and online (phone, Zoom, FaceTime) for school‑aged children and adults at all levels. I currently teach piano, guitar, and flute, and can also assist with other wind instruments.
With over 20 years of experience, I’ve taught middle school band (including jazz band) that competed in festivals, coached flute auditions at music camp, and led advanced small group flute choirs. I was trained as a music teacher at Sacramento State with extensive experience across elementary through high school music programs.
I’ve also served as a resident flutist at local churches and performed professionally in theaters, playing many styles of music.

I hired Liz Vargas to teach piano to my two grandchildren. My 14-year-old grandson who is high-functioning autistic, and his 10-year-old sister. Neither child has had any previous music instruction. Liz came to our house and met the children and made an immediate and positive connection with both of them. She has been coming once a week for several weeks and works individually with each child. She is firm yet fun! She is especially patient with my autistic grandson, and very encouraging for my more reluctant granddaughter. She is, n my opinion, an exceptional teacher. One of the rare people who can be patient yet disciplined, and keep the kid's interest. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a warm, lively person to instruct their children.

Elizabeth has been teaching piano to our six year old son for three months now. We love her! She is talented, passionate, creative, flexible and fun. In addition to teaching music, she is teaching our son how to focus.

Liz is awesome!! I found her through Thumbtack and I've never been so happy with a teacher. I'm an adult learning piano for the first time. Liz is patient, fun, knowledgable, and she really cares about your progress and if you're having fun too! She's an extremely talented musician and I would recommend her to anyone!!

I offer month to month and 12 week discount. Travel may have added fee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Trial lesson is available. Patents must be willing to have the proper and quiet environment for lessons given at the home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Earned my teaching credential in instrumental music in the classroom K-12. My training was extensive for almost 2 years from elementary to high school music teacher training. Worked with students closely I a high school guitar classroom.
