- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
TV mounting is $150 per TV if you already have the bracket, and I can supply one if you don't. That price includes running the cable in a paintable surface cover so nothing hangs loose. If you'd rather have the cables fully hidden inside the wall instead, that's $100-150 more per TV. Brick, tile or metal stud walls, mounting above a fireplace, taking down an existing TV, and adding a soundbar each add to the price. Whatever it comes to, I'll tell you the exact figure before I start rather than after. Not included: drywall repair beyond the mounting plate itself, any new electrical work, or supplying the TV. I take cash, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal or check.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It starts with a few questions by message: the size and model of your TV, what the wall is made of, whether you want the cables hidden, and a photo of the spot. That is usually enough for me to quote an exact price instead of a range, so there are no surprises later. When I arrive I check the wall against what we discussed, mark the position, and have you stand and look at the height before anything gets drilled. Then I locate the studs, check for wiring or plumbing inside the wall, put drop cloths down, and mount it. Before I leave I test every input, run the mount through its full tilt and swivel to be sure no cable pulls tight, vacuum up, and walk you through it with the remote in your hand.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Homeowners and renters around Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Emeryville, San Leandro and the rest of the East Bay. Most of my work is living rooms and bedrooms: a new TV that needs to go on the wall, cables that need hiding, or a home theater and sound system that needs setting up properly. I also do a fair amount of WiFi and home network work for people whose internet is fine but whose coverage isn't. I'm happy to work with Vietnamese-speaking customers in their own language if that's easier.
