I have been serving creatives with writing and editing since 2011. I provide clear, empowering editorial advisement for book manuscripts and dissertations; college essays; creative and academic applications; creative writing; academic papers; and web content. I met Maura in 2016 at a residency on Long Island. Her intensity and focus for her own work was obvious then (actually it was inspiring), and so years later when I needed some assistance with a few proposals and statements naturally she was the first person that came to mind. Maura is as professional as they get, she has an ear-to-the-ground understanding of the ins-and-outs of the industry, she understands art-speak and, most importantly, she’s able to draw out of from her client what it is they’re really trying to say, or do, within their own work. I was applying for a prestigious residency in Italy when I came to her for some guidance and dropped a heap of wordy ideas into her inbox. Over the course of a few weeks we hacked and refined my work together. Maura dived deep into it, she asked the hard questions and essentially lead me to not only what my proposal sought, but what my own work was about. Which is an invaluable trait. Any artist out there reading this knows how difficult it is to find that kind of dedication and attention toward their work from someone who isn't them. This is a testament to not only Maura’s skill as an editor, but as a patient and giving listener.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My services include consultation and private coaching (in person or online), substantive and line editing, proofreading, copyediting, writing, and content strategy. Rates vary depending on the project and the writer’s needs. Contact me to receive a quote, and tell me a bit about your project. I'm looking forward to working with you.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Because I provide a wide range of writing and editorial services, and work on many different types of projects that have varied needs, there isn't necessarily a typical process. Part of the strength of my service is that I offer a highly individualized experience to my clients. If we decided to work together, I would first learn about you, your work, and your project needs. Then I would put together a plan for our time together. Typically, my clients are very happy with the plans I put together for their projects, but if you needed any adjustments, we would integrate those.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
