Hi...I'm Jim Carson and I've been playing competitive golf and teaching the game for over forty years to a large clientele that ranges in age from 6 to 92...beginner, to highly skilled collegiate athletes and professionals in pursuit of big time goals.
What makes my lesson tee more desirable than others is that I present the swing mechanics in a way that simplify the learning process. Golf is not that complex if taught in a "building block" structure, mastering one piece before advancing to another.
Most beginners try to assimilate too much developmental instruction too soon, while more advanced players tend to get lost in finding solutions to errant shots by way of endless reconstruction efforts or by trial and error, hit or miss guesswork.
The key to better golf begins with understanding the golf swing. And I have the acumen to teach it...and the patience to mold it. Because everyone comes to the lesson tee with a different set of swing skills and not everyone can be squeezed into a cookie cutter mold to develop theirs.
My expertise is in analyzing each individual and finding pathways of golf development that are easy and effective. And, since golf has been my life, I have a passion to teach and a healthy respect for each individual who comes to my lesson tee. You may arrive as a student...but you go as a friend...and a better player to boot.

I had my first golflesson with Jim last week, and I couldn't be more impressed. Right from the start, he was incredibly responsive and accommodating. During the lesson, his instructions were extremely clear and detailed, leaving me with a clear understanding of what I needed to work on. Not only did he provide insightful feedback, but he also gave me homework to continue improving between sessions.
What truly sets Jim apart is his dedication to his students. Despite our scheduled time being up, he generously stayed an extra 45 minutes with me, answering all of my questions and providing additional guidance, all free of charge. It's evident that he genuinely cares about his students' progress and isn't just trying to rush through lessons.
Overall, I highly recommend Jim to anyone looking to improve their golf game. His attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to his students make him an exceptional instructor. I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with him and seeing further improvement in my game!

I have been golfing regularly for 12 years after a long break since childhood. I am pretty much self taught and have probably went for 6 lessons in my whole life before I had a lesson with Jim. I am skeptical about golflessons after some bad experiences. However, after struggling with a particular part of my game I decided to bite the bullet and go for another lesson. I booked an appointment with Jim after reading the reviews on Thumbtack. After a single lesson I am already seeing great improvements with my ball strike and ball flight. If you book a lesson with Jim you will see that he has a tremendous passion for teaching and also makes the lesson a lot of fun. I have never been back for more than 2 lessons with a golf pro before, but I am booking a series of 6 lessons with Jim. I would absolutely recommend booking a lesson with Jim after seeing improvements after a single lesson and seeing the passion he has for teaching.

I had my first lesson with Jim just yesterday, I have to say that his ability to pick out my flaws and help me make the corrections necessary was very impressive. I decided to purchase a six pack of lessons with Jim because I can tell that he took the time to learn about me and quickly developed a strategy to address all the issues I have with my golf game therefore making me a better player.
I have had lessons in the past and spent hundreds of dollars, yeah nobody ever noticed that I wasn’t even gripping the club properly. I’ve been playing this way for 20 years struggling with that dreaded Slice. (Jim noticed it after 4-5 swings)
I really look forward to our next appointment!
I highly recommend Jim not Just because of the incredible value you get with his rate but his attention to detail and focus with one on one player time. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!

Jim is a true professional. I learned quite a bit in my first lesson. Jim was very encouraging, supportive and attentive to what I wanted to get out of the first lesson. We worked on my stance and chip shots and he provided good advice on what I should practice on in between lessons. Jim did not pressure me into signing up for additional lessons. He simply said he would love to continue the lessons but would also be happy if I walked away after one lesson with new found knowledge that could help my game. I highly recommend Jim. Very high value for a low cost lesson.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My lesson rates are $75 for adults. A series of six costs $400. Each golf lesson is one hour of instructional time and up to three players can share (“piggyback”) the session at an increase of only $10 per participant. I also provide reduced rates for Junior Golfers.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I like to determine whether my student has a desire to improve their physical swing (e.g.: driving range mechanics) or enhance their mental skills (e.g.: playing lesson).
I like to use the illustration of a simple mathematic equation to tell the story of golf..."A + B = C." A...represents your ability to swing the golf club. B...reflects your level of thinking on the golf course. And together the sum of both parts equate to your ability to play golf...C. If you increase any part of A or B you get better. So the question is...where do you want to spend your time and money...on the driving range learning how to swing or on the course learning how to score better with what you've got?
Every golfer needs to consider the upside to either option. Newer players to the game typically turn to swing mechanics to improve but I think the better alternative for those that are intermediate/advanced is out where the game is actually played. That's not to downplay the relevance of good swing technique...it is essential. And I have the acumen to help you build your golf swing properly.
But there's nothing more rewarding to me than to leave you with insight that immediately transfers to the score on your bottom line...and that's achieved by way of a playing lesson. Two hours on the golf course with me can save you years of time in development during play.
If our work goes to the lesson tee, first we'll discuss a little bit about your playing background and/or what you are hoping to improve upon in our work together. Then I'll ask you to hit a few shots, during which time I will formulate a corrective course of action to improve your performance. We'll discuss alternative swing styles based on your individual body style, age and physical limitations. Then we'll get to work with repetitive swing drills and develop a routine for your ongoing practice efforts.
Every participant leaves with a thorough understanding of exactly what they need to do and how to do it. Furthermore, it's all documented on video for their enjoyment and learning experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Forty years of worldwide competitive experience, designer of the innovative GolfLog and Practice Ledger, host of "Video Golf Concepts" and creator of TAGSOD, the Talk About Golf System Of Development.
