I had Brenes Landscaping build a decomposed granite (DG) pad for a backyard sauna, and overall they did a very solid job.
From the beginning, their communication stood out. The quoting process was clear, detailed, and fully itemized—everything was broken down (labor, materials, haul-away, edging, etc.), which made it easy to understand exactly what I was paying for. There were no vague line items or surprises.
They showed up on time and stayed consistent with scheduling, which I value a lot. Once the work started, it was obvious they knew what they were doing. The base preparation was done properly with multiple passes of compacted road base, followed by DG layers. You could tell they weren’t cutting corners on foundation work, which is the part that actually matters long-term.
What really impressed me was their willingness to dial things in. I’m pretty detail-oriented, and I asked for very tight tolerances on leveling. They spent a good 2–3 extra hours fine-tuning the surface, scraping, adjusting, and rechecking until the pad was essentially perfectly level (within ~0.5°–1° across the surface). That level of patience and responsiveness is not something you get with most crews.
I installed my sauna on the pad the next day, and it sat perfectly level without any shimming or adjustments. That’s the real test. Time will tell how everything settles, but the prep work they did gives me confidence in the durability.
They also paid attention to smaller details—clean edges, proper grading, and overall finish—which made the final result look clean and intentional, not just functional.

Well, these guys are the best! So fast and strong and thoughtful. I started with one project and they did a great job doing a bunch of hard camming so then I ended up hiring them to build a fence hall away trash create drainage and they were a pleasure to have around and do excellent work. I almost don’t want to review them. At least they not be available because they are so good!
