About
Hi, I am Grace Ellen. I am located in Palm Desert, CA. I create warm, timeless, organic interiors, using natural textiles, earthy pallets, and classic vintage-inspired elements. My work includes full home and hospitality renovations, kitchen and bath updates, furnishing plans, and Airbnb / short-term rental design. I offer highly organized, transparent, and collaborative design experience from concept to completion in your home should be intentional, beautiful, impersonal, and I bring the expertise to make that happen smoothly and professionally. The first one-hour design consultation is $200 (within Coachella Valley or Virtually) - if outside of this area, 1st consultation fee varies. I'd love to learn more about your project and bring your vision to life. ****PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT be able to give you an estimate on how much a project is going to cost as I cannot offer this information without first getting bids from contractors, budgeting and calculating all materials, etc. as this is all work completed after signing on with a designer.

I had an excellent experience with Grace. She responded quickly to my queries, offered reasonable prices, and was willing to negotiate with me. She helped me curate the look that I was going for on my condo and was very professional throughout. I highly recommend her services and would definitely suggest her to those with little to no experience in designing or furnishing spaces for that matter. 10/10
Grace Ellen Design Studio's reply
Thank you so much, Drew. I’m grateful for your kind words and for trusting me with your home. It was a joy helping you curate the look and feel you were envisioning, and I’m so glad you had a positive experience. I truly appreciate the recommendation and your support

I had a $200 virtual consultation with this designer, which went fine. We then began drafting a contract, and I suggested edits to clarify scope and deliverables. She revised it, added new fees, and restructured revisions—without calling out the changes—and also left out some spaces she had agreed to design. When I pointed this out, hoping to clarify and move forward, she stopped responding altogether. It felt unprofessional and left me out the consultation fee and valuable time.

Details: Design of 3 - 4 rooms • Kitchen • Living room • Dining room • Bedroom(s) • Bathroom(s) • 1,000 - 1,500 sq ft • Space planning / layout • Color palette / paint selection • Furniture selection • Lighting selection • Window treatments selection • Accessories / art selection • Eclectic • My home, venue, etc.

Grace Ellen Design Studio's reply
Hi Michael, As I stated in my formal exit email to you, and based on the time and energy of approx 6-8 hours spent over the past two days of doing multiple revisions on the agreement in order to try to please you, (as well as other variables), I did not feel comfortable moving forward with you. This happens from time to time - sometimes people just don't work well together - and that's okay. I am absolutely allowed to say no if I'm not comfortable, as are potential clients, especially when we haven't even signed any agreement to proceed. I shouldn't receive a retaliation review from you just because I stopped answering your multiple texts after I had already exited with a professional explanation and thereafter reading your response saying you'd find a "new vendor tomorrow" if I didn't reply. The $200 fee covered our 1-HR virtual call last week, in which I did not guarantee anything besides that call for that fee - this is stated in this very ad - a 1-HR initial consultation fee - which every client pays for. These hours spent talking with you - all texts and emails - as well as the many revisions written over the past couple of days has been time lost, on my part. And all along, I didn't have a good feeling - you made multiple attempts to discount me; to try to cut corners; to try to get me to commit to organizing your home? Michael - you were out of line. I knew, based on my time spent getting to know you a bit over these past few days that a lowball review would likely be the result when I decided to part ways with you and didn't respond to your multiple messages; this was another reason I decided to not move forward with you - I could sense this type of behavior in you which is very uncomfortable, and it's not something myself, or any designer (or professional) can deal with. You've told me you've been through multiple designers, with no one working out, and when I received a picture of my agreement scratched up with red ink, I understood why. Design requires sophistication and respect. Your house was far from ready for a designer, and you continued to press me to work outside of the limits of design, and the scope of work that we initially talked about. If you're going to leave reviews, please be sure to be accurate, as you're messing with people's livelihoods and small businesses that we as entrepreneurs work extremely hard to build. I'm not even upset about this review as it allows potential clients to see what behaviors from people I will not accept - low balling & nitpicking behavior is not negotiable. If anything, this review will hopefully weed out those who would try to approach me with the same regard as you have. Designing requires class and creative freedom, which I could tell by your desire to cut corners, low-ball me, and nitpick every word I wrote - that my muse would be crushed right away, which would only hurt the job you wanted to hire me for - to make things beautiful. As I stated in my exit email earlier to you: I wish you all the best in your journey.
