Rebecca has been more than professional. The resume and cover letter she created has simply amazing. Her use of the industry language (field of Education) and application of my skills to my real-life application, more than exceeded my expectations. She's been easy to reach and promptly replied to my emails and phone calls. She took the time to get to me and my current career goals. She's went above and beyond to reply to me during her vacation, when I was in panic mode about a last minute interview!! I've so pleased with her work that I will refer her to anyone seeking resume/cover letter assistance and am planning to retain her services to help with writing my book. I look forward to our continued work together. Couldn't be happier! Veronica Joy Didelot, M.S.Ed.
John helped me raise my SAT score from 1430 to 1520, and continues to help me with college applications and essays.
Josh was an awesome SAT tutor for my son, increasing his scores 110 points in just a few weeks of tutoring. Prior to Josh, my son was enrolled in a commercial SAT prep course: 3 hours on Friday evenings and six hours on Saturdays along with 11 other students. My son did not respond well to the group setting. These sessions could not hold his attention, and it became a weekly battle to get him to go. After a few weeks, he quit the course and decided that individual tutoring would be a better option. Joshs style of personalized attention offered my son the back and forth interaction he needed to maintain interest and motivation. He had a great depth of knowledge (Yale graduate), as well as a warm and personal demeanor. He took the time to understand my sons individual style of learning and identified the areas with which he needed more assistance. In summary, my son benefitted greatly from Joshs talents, and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing one-on-one and personalized attention.
Michael has been an invaluable English tutor for our son. He was able to artfully help our son with his college essay, guiding him through the writing process while making sure the essay was in our son's own words. Our son was accepted into his first choice college, partly based on this essay. Even after our son's freshman year of college, Michael continues to be available to tutor him. Michael has delved deeply into understanding our son's writing challenges, identifying specific steps to help him get on the right track. With his insight and gentle manor, Michael has connected well with our son, allowing him to be a very effective tutor. Michael is very responsive and flexible, providing sessions on Skype when our son needs them. Michael has proven to be a top-notch writing tutor for our son.
Ishan was my college counselor during my junior and senior year of high school. He was extremely helpful, answered all of my questions, and helped me with pretty much all of my college applications. He helped me score better on the SAT my second time, recommended which SAT 2s I should take, helped me select my college list, walked me through every step of developing my theme/story for colleges, and improved my college essays to be focused and stand out in college applications. I will be attending Columbia next year and so grateful I had a college counselor to help me along the way!
As a pre-med student, with the ultimate goal of attending medical school, I have taken several exams over the years with hopes of achieving grades that would make me a competitive applicant to medical school. The one thing that was missing from my application was a well written personal statement, which unfortunately science classes do not help prepare you for all that well. I have written lab reports and research articles but a story about my life and journey was beyond my writing abilities. Scott absolutely saved the day. His ability to explain the process of writing a story that captivates a reader was fantastic. He spent as much time with me as I needed and helped me write the perfect personal statement for medical school. Scott has helped me more than I could ever repay him and I am positive he will be able to help you with any of your writing needs as well.
I worked with Adena Spingarn to write a graduate college application essay. What I enjoyed most about working with her was that she was able to convey her professional opinion while encouraging me to develop my own ideas. I always felt she was genuinely engaged and committed to helping me. At the end of every session with Adena, I felt clear on my path forward and compelled to keep working. Adena set up a writing framework, which effectively helped me to methodically structure my many thoughts. The process of revising my essay was a great learning opportunity for me as well because I’ve never been advised on a project from start to finish. I really appreciate the attention and thoughtfulness I was given by Adena regarding this work. Further, I always felt I had adequate time with Adena to discuss challenges in the writing process. She was always open to speaking with me about my ideas and concerns. I am very happy with the final outcome of my time with Adena and recommend her highly as a tutor.
Joan Case’s college consulting services for my daughter are indispensable. We did not even know how to identify possible colleges to visit because of the overwhelming choices and information. Joan’s methods have made us confident that we are now on the right track. Joan is professional, prompt, caring and incredibly knowledgeable about the college application process, financial choices, and how to navigate the internet while researching colleges. We do not need to worry about missing deadlines for applications or whether we’re going to miss out on possible financial aide because we didn’t know how the system works. A major plus in having Joan work with us is the resulting positive communication between my daughter, my husband and me (much of it initiated by my daughter). The peace of mind that Joan has given us is worth every penny!
Being able to work side-by-side with Mr. John Carroll during my stressful college application period has been a huge help. At the beginning of the application period I was scared that I would not get accepted to any of my top choice colleges. I had a 1730 SAT composite score (which is not very promising for the colleges that I was applying to). With some great luck we found John. John helped me with the UC application and the Common Application. John talked with me and tried to gather as much as possible about my life experiences and soon helped me identify the best possible material for my personal statement. After gathering some great topics for my college essay supplements, we put together a great college application essay . He then helped me clean-up and develop my writing until I was telling what I think are really important stories that showed the colleges who I really am and want to be. Three months later I have gotten acceptances from Claremont McKenna College, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, and many other great universities. These universities all have acceptance rates that are 35% or lower. I received a $23,000 scholarship from the University of San Diego. Without John's help and guidance I would have definitley not been accepted to any of these very prestigious universities. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at (619)-565-4249. Good luck and please know that John made a huge difference in my college admission process. -Ricardo Cabrero, Senior at San Diego Academy
I can't say enough about Barbara. She is excellent!! She is professional and so knowledgeable about the college application process. She connected with our daughter immediately and is truly focused on helping us and our daughter navigate what colleges would be a good fit for our daughter, who is also an athlete. We are lucky to have found her and I highly recommend her.
I first met Sam the summer before my senior year in Taipei, Taiwan. Like every other almost senior at the time, I was desperate to raise my SAT scores, having only mediocre scores when I took the tests my junior year. And by mediocre, I meant scores along the 1500-1600 range before Sam started tutoring me. I am someone who can get quite nervous when being tutored and am very picky about my tutors. I have received SAT tutoring before from others but it just didn't work out. Naturally, I was nervous and a little intimidated about meeting Sam for the first time, knowing his background as a Harvard graduate. And to be honest, I was pretty much ready to give up on my SAT scores. I believed there was no way I could do better after taking the test two, three times prior already. During our first meeting, Sam was very welcoming and began to formulate a plan for us to raise my score, especially my math scores. From the very beginning, he made me feel less alone, and that we were going to counter the SAT together. I left the classroom that day feeling a lot more prepared, motivated, and most importantly, encouraged. During our tutoring sessions, Sam was always very patient, encouraging, and understanding. I will always be grateful for Sam's patience, especially when teaching me math. I always get nervous and self-conscious when being tutored on math because it is such a big challenge to me. To this day, Sam is still the only person I feel comfortable with teaching me math. At the end of our intensive SAT tutoring sessions, I was able to score in the 2000 range. After the SATs, Sam also helped me with college application. He was super helpful and is the reason why I am able to apply to so many different universities. He is also the reason why I am able to study at one of my top choices. As a college app consultant, not only did Sam help me with grammar and brainstorming, he was also super organized and kept me on top of my applications. As a current sophomore in university, I think back often to my application days, and realized I really could not have gone through the process without him. Aside from being my SAT tutor, college consultant, Sam is also a friend. Which in my opinion, is quite unusual, as I don't see my friends becoming friends with their tutors. Even now in university, I still talk to Sam and he is still there for me to give me amazing advices. To be honest, before coming to university, I was stressed about college and life, Sam gave me one of the best advice that I still reflect on to this day. Sam is truly an amazing person. Not only is he a professional and truly knows what he is doing, he is a true friend as well. Anyone who works with Sam will see this from the very beginning. Take it from me, if you're worried about SATs or College application, there is no one who can help you more than Sam Cooper.
Our daughter is basically an "A" student, but is not strong in math and is generally not a great test taker. We were very worried about the SATs and college admissions. First she took Eva's SAT Prep class, which really helped her understand what to do on the test, and helped her achieve a high enough score to be in the range of some top schools. Which was a relief -- we were really worried that she would not be able to score high enough on the SATs to even be considered at some of the UCs and private universities she was considering. Then we hired Eva directly to help my daughter with her college essays. At first my daughter resisted, but by the end of the process, she told us that Eva had helped tremendously. She said that Eva brought a unique perspective to the essays that she felt helped give her an advantage. My daughter got accepted at almost every school she applied to. She will be attending UC Davis in the Fall and is thrilled. Our younger daughter is a high school junior. I will definitely send her to Eva's SAT Prep class and plan to hire her to help with the essays. I have recommended Eva's company to several of my friends. Needless to say, I've been very happy with Prep Point and I recommend Eva and her company without hesitation.
Tamarah was very professional. She arrived on time and worked diligently with my daughter, patiently explaining concepts until she got it.
Jake was extremely helpful to me in my MBA application process. He talked me through key aspects of my story and helped me express those succintly and clearly in my essays. He was very responsive and prompt, never taking more than a couple days to come back to me with meaningful comments and corrections. His economy of expression is perhaps his best skill, especially since it is so difficult to try and express the complex ideas is such a short amount of words. He also provided the right level of encouragement to make me feel good about the work I did, while still challenging me to do better, Although he was expensive, I think the value is defintiely there and would spend the money again if I hadn't already gotten into a top-tier business school. I would highly recommend his services.
Eric was very encouraging and provided the guidance I needed throughout a very stressful college application season. I greatly appreciated the constructive edits he provided for my essays. I don't think I would have made it into UCLA or UC Berkeley without him.
Natalie has guided our three boys and is now working with our daughter through the challenging process of college application. She provided our families compassionate, and expert guidance -far beyond anything that is available in schools- as our children navigate the process of applying to college. We were extremely grateful with the results. Natalie is resourceful and has a vast knowledge of schools and their uniqueness, internships and summer programs in the US and abroad. Natalie shares her passion for learning and helps to identify what really matters to your children while taking into account parents' reasonable concerns.
