Introduction: I am providing new design schematics that lead to working drawings and building permits. I am working on remodels and/or additions tailored to the client's budget. I have a good support professional team that provides all the extra services needed to secure a permit. I produce architectural/structural working drawings needed for securing a permit.

The job was to draw LODs of several retail spaces. The work was thorough, complete, and on time. We will use his services again.

I designed a detached garage/laundry for my small apartment building. Oh, oh, the City required an Architect's stamp before they'd give approval. Sorin used my plans, interfaced with the planckecker, told me what to modify, and stamped my changed Drawings. Success! Sorin worked very quickly. Though I'm in San Jose and he's in Pleasanton that presented no problem

Sorin kept in constant communication with us at all times which kept my wife and I very secure working with him. Unfortunately, we did not end up working with Sorin because we have decided how much or how little we should expand the house because our funding situation. However, I would totally recommend working with him as Sorin seemed very knowledgeable and helpful.

I contacted Sorin about building an ADU in my backyard. He came back with a reasonable quote and i was willing to go with him for my project. I asked him to send over a contract and a portfolio of similar projects. I mean portfolio very loosely here...i asked for a website or a architectural picture of a recent project...he was unable to provide either. He sent me the picture attached. And he replied back in the email with "You have the pictures! Those are huge projects compared to an ADU. So, please, I gave you want you wanted! " As part of the contract terms, i asked if i can hold a small balance from the full payment(10%) until the all the comments from the city are addressed and the plan is approved. His reply was "I am a professional; and know what I am doing! Either you want to do it at this low price or forget about it! Maybe, I should charge for the time that I already spent to educate you! I do not do that and take a gamble that I could get it or not. Maybe it is part of your culture, but you have to adapt here, too! RIGHT?" The time he spent talking to me was 2 phone calls and he thinks he should charge me for it. TLDR: He talks well initially, but cannot backup his claims and when asked questions he replies back with "Take it or leave it".

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

There is no standard pricing since each job is different. It is a fixed price, though, so the client can budget accordingly.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I look at the request and then I send a message with an invitation for providing more details about the job. Sometimes, for small jobs or jobs with a clear intent, I would give a quote.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I got a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Architecture, as well as a Master's degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley.
