Edwin was right on time, worked hard the entire time, and cleaned up all of the mess. He helped us trim fence lines and bushes, clean out garden beds, cut a few tree limbs, and more. He was friendly and hardworking. I recommend him 100%

Edwin and I connected and communicated via Thumbtack. Initially Edwin asked to come by my home to see the work I wanted done so he could provide an estimate. Trying to meet up with him for this was a bit hit and miss we agreed on a time for this, but he was running behind. I waited a while and he said he was finally on his way. About an hour later he said he was finally on his way. A minute later he said he was "driving by your front yard, but noticed you posted some picture. That's why I work. I charge you $160.
Edwin's ad states he charges $50/hour, so I naturally expected the work to take him just over 3 hours. On my own it might have taken me 3-4 hours to do, but I am almost 70 years old and really don't feel like weed whacking and clearing my small yard on my own. I would think a strong, healthy young guy like Edwin (disclosure, Edwin and I never met face to face, all communications was via the Thumbtack add or text) could probably complete the work in half that time. In fact last year I hired a guy to do the same job and he was done in under 2 hours by himself and charged me $100. Unfortunately that guy was no longer available. I attempted to negotiate the price with Edwin but he said no. Comparing him with 2 other estimates I received, Edwin was able to do the job sooner that the others so I decided to hire Edwin.
A date was set but Edwin could not specify a time and instead requested I leave the yard gate unlocked and he will get there when he gets there. I requested that he at least text me when he would be on his way that day.
The day of the job arrived and no text message from Edwin, but 2 guys did show up and proceeded to clean out the weeds. They worked quickly and efficiently creating minimal noise. They were completely done with the job in 45 minutes and they did a very good job. Two things comes to my mind though.... it would have been appreciated if I was alerted to the time of arrival (via text as I requested) AND knowing to expect two other guys other than himself would be showing up to do the job especially if he was not going to be there himself (he has a photo of himself on his ad) would have been helpful. Think about that for just a second.... two strangers you do not recognize suddenly appearing in your backyard assumingly uninvited. Especially since I was expecting just one guy (Edwin) who's face I would have recognized from the photo he posted. Fortunately no harm, no foul and like I said, the job was done quickly and done well.
The second thing that came to mind was he advertised a charge of $50/hour. It took less than an hour for the job to be completed. Granted there was 2 guys, so let's calculate that as a 2 hour job (90 minutes to be more precise), the total job should have cost me less than $100 at his advertised rate ($75 to be more accurate). Do I feel cheated? Maybe a little, but I did agree to his price, so that's water under the bridge.
Overall take on Edwin: communications could be better. There was confusion on dates and times and a couple other things, but through my persistence it worked out. Time management by him needs work. Time management was not handled well (trying to make an appointment for him to come by my house to see the project to give me an accurate estimate was annoying. Also there was date confusion on what day he could come by to provide the estimate as well as the dates he was available to do the job. Lastly it is suggested that he mentions if he or someone else would be arriving to do the work,
Bottom line, taking all of the above into consideration, annoying as it was, the job was completed in short order, and the work was done well. Would I hire Edwin and/or his team again? Probably, but clarity in what is expected should be clearly made. See photos of the before and after of my yard.
