Ian came over to give me a quote on cleaning up my deck. At the same time I was trying to find somebody to work on my bathrooms, and I asked him if he remodeled. He said yes and mentioned he was a "general contractor". So far, the bathroom job has gone terrible wrong- the tile is ruined and I don't see a way of fixing it @ $15 a tile, the repairs will be very costly. The tub fixtures are also not lined up w/ the tub (they are off set about 2 inches too far to the left.) He came to fix that, but they are still off about 1 inch- so will need to have him redo that. The flooring grout is about 1/2 inch wide and the grout was not allowed to set before it was wiped off- so it is way lower than the level of the tile. Ian began to grout the wall tile for the shower- and even though I bought a non sanded grout, with the color I liked, he bought and used a "charcoal" colored grout- way too dark for the job- but it does help to cover up the horrible job of the tiling and very wide spaces and uneveness. There are a few 12x12 sheets of tiling that are literally falling off the wall and not sticking to the wall. I believe I will need to hire a plumber to repair and do the rest of the plumbing as I've lost confidence. BUT the deck is looking okay- but it's still less than 1/2 way done and it was started 7 days ago- I have paid more than 1/2 of what is due for the deck, but we did have 2 days of rain. The counter that was removed and was to be reused in the bathroom, was set out in the rain- so i do not know if i will need to buy a new one. I do think Ian is trying and working long hours to get this job done- but the quality of the work in the bathroom is horrible.
