Beth is great! She worked with me for months while I solidified details for my wedding. There were venue changes and date changes and I'm so glad it all worked out. Admittedly, I wasn't too impressed with the first bouquet arrangement she prepared but I think it was becuase she wanted to meet my expectations for flowers (which werent totally in season yet so some colors werent available). Once we discussed my changes and preferences, the second bouquet was amazing and everything I envisioned! My bouquet, cake topper and centerpieces at the wedding were simply gorgeous!! My partner and I knew we only wanted a limited amount at our wedding, and Beth was happy to work with our vision. I was impressed with the bouquets she created with our color palette (I even dried mine so I'll have it forever) and she made boutonnieres out of hops for the guys. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Having a preliminary meeting with my clients either in person or on the phone is always the best way to start. For floral design, we can go over inspirational photos and ideas, look at the different containers I have on hand and create a customized package for their events. Once we have all of that nailed down, and they decide to work with me, we will continue to talk through details and then meet one more time about a month before the event to nail down all the details.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a certificate in floral design from the College of San Mateo and attend as many educational seminars as possible! I'm also in charge of a networking group consisting of floral designers throughout the Bay Area. We meet monthly to share design inspirations and update each other on the latest trends in our industry.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I grew up helping a family friend with their flower shop. I needed another part time job and I loved planning events, so I found my dream job of assistant to a highly sought after wedding planner and florist. Her husband got a great job opportunity and they moved away, but I loved the events industry so much, I decided to keep it going and start my own business. Not an easy task, but my love for what I do overcomes all the obstacles that I have faced in being a young female entrepreneur!
