Scientifically grounded. Emotionally intelligent. Shannon helped me get unstuck. Seeing any counselor at all was a big deal for me. I had bad experiences with them in the past. Not only was she able to put me at ease, not only was her advice concrete and useful, she helped me explore my concerns in a way that was as stunning as it was fun. It was more helpful, more quickly, and more enjoyably than any other counseling experience I've ever had.

He was genuine and didn't rush us. He used the paperwork that we submitted when we arrived to lead the conversation. My husband and I are working toward a better relationship yet it was good to talk with Paul as a mediator, and he helped start the conversation that we can continue as a couple. If needed, we'd hire Paul again without hestitation.

Dr. Russo helped me get to the heart of my issues quickly and supportively. I've dealt with depression off and on over many years and she's been my choice every time for support and counsel, guidance and wisdom. Often, Dr. Russo would recommend titles of useful books and/or authors that I've since added to my library. They've proven time and again to be great resources helping me deal with the process of healing and wellness. I'm eternally grateful for working with Dr. Russo and will forever value the skills she helped me develop.

Matthew has been a really great counselor to work with. He brings empathy and excitement to our relationship counseling sessions, and provides much needed insight to moments when we get caught up in our historic relational patterns. Our sessions are a good mix of hard work and play. Matthew always has ideas and exercises we can do to work with the material that arises. He is communicative and professional.

About

I founded Be Love Community Counseling to provide safe, healing space for people who have been oppressed, marginalized or have an identity outside of the dominant culture. Historic trauma and past hurts may show up as having challenges in relationships, depression, anxiety, anger management issues, low self-esteem, underachievement, oppositional behaviors, etc. You may think that something is wrong with you while what you're experiencing may actually be a result of something that has happened to you or your ancestors. Therapy is empowering as you may increase awareness about what is keeping you from freedom to live the life you desire. We may meet for a brief period, and you'll learn and practice coping skills, or we can take time needed to focus on the root of the problems and identify the best solutions for you. You may gain deeper knowledge of your true self and what creates joy and ease. I use an "eclectic" approach to personalize counseling to meet the unique needs of the individuals who I serve. This means I use a variety of different treatment modalities including, but are not limited to eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), family systems, solution-focused brief therapy, play, sand tray, expressive arts, spiritual, narrative, mindfulness, psychodynamic and humanistic therapies. Issues that may be addressed in counseling are many, but I focus on growing your strengths and supporting you to live the life that you desire. I don't pretend to have all answers, but I'm honest and will share if I can help.

About

I have worked as a licensed therapist since 1984. I am passionate about being present with clients and helping them to transition through difficult situations. I love to help them be more present in their lives and more loving to themselves and others. I work with people who want to explore themselves and improve the quality of their lives. Sometimes, they don’t feel as alive in their lives as they deserve to. I work with them to understand their needs. It’s important for people to find what gives their life energy, joy, and passion – what makes life meaningful for each individual. We all need to claim our own meaning.

About

Our thoughts create our feelings! Our feelings create our urges! Our urges create our actions! Our actions create our life! We each arrive here whole, perfect, complete. Somewhere along our journey, we get caught up in the events of our story and the soup of societal thought; we fall into the illusion that we have somehow become less perfect, less valuable, less capable and less loveable, or that we got stuck in traffic and weren’t at the port when our ship came in. We find ourselves with any number of unwanted conditions of dis-ease in our lives, wondering what the heck happened. There is hope! There is a solution! By identifying our hidden beliefs and replacing them with the spiritual truth about ourselves, we release the illusions. We are healed, and our lives are transformed. It is my great pleasure to give you the tools, the guidance and the support you need to transform your thinking and to claim your birthright of unlimited abundance in every area of your life. Spiritual counseling differs from traditional counseling or psychotherapy, in that the primary focus is on the here and now versus the past. I work with with you through the application of spiritual principles, asking compassionate questions and actively listening, to identify hidden beliefs which block your awareness of truth, that you are a perfect individualized expression of spirit. When your hidden beliefs are surfaced, I work through the art and skill of spiritual mind treatment, at the level of mind, to reveal truth. When truth is revealed, healing occurs. I have specific expertise in the areas of addiction, LGBTQ, relationships and past trauma issues. I provide individual, couples, family and group counseling and visioning, as well as group and business consulting, counseling, and visioning. My clients express that my gentle, down to earth, practical approach provide a safe environment in which they can honestly invest in their healing process and learn effective tools for continuing to grow far beyond the counseling experience. I am available to meet with you at the Center for Spiritual Living - Santa Rosa and by phone. I am also open to traveling to your location on a case by case basis. Namasté. Rafe A. About

As a full-service college consultant, I specialize in the application process and the requirements for college campuses. I seek to streamline the process for students and their family by organizational help and time line creation, teacher recommendation letter organization, essay guidance, and application assistance to help facilitate a student’s analytical processes as he or she considers what is best for learning interests and campus environments. Formerly a high school classroom teacher, my style is casual, fun and low key. Students know that I am available to them at any time and regularly keep in touch with them via texting and even Facebook. Whether a student is seeking tutoring for an academic subject such as English or history, or needs assistance preparing for the ACT and SAT, I tailor my tutoring to meet the students' individual needs. The fact that my students continue to stay in touch and seek out services after they have gone to college attests to the fact that they know I care about helping them make the most of their education.

About

Change is not easy! And yet sometimes, the pain of difficult feelings, a challenging situation or a rocky relationship can overwhelm everything else. At such times, you may feel compelled to try something new and to give up exhausted efforts at doing it alone. In counseling, you can find relief from anxious thoughts, painful relationships, and self-defeating behaviors. Therapy offers you the opportunity to heal from your past, better manage your present and develop more adaptive and fulfilling ways of being. In my practice, I see women, men, couples, families and groups of many ages and cultural backgrounds. No two situations are ever exactly alike. At the same time, there are some issues that I work with more than others, and these are listed here: * Trauma * Divorce * Anxiety * Lost Women (please see my website for more information) * Grief or Loss I am a certified practitioner of EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and expressive arts therapy (EXA). EMDR is a mind-body technique that's used to process disturbing memories (i.e.: traumatic events) that contribute to unexplained fears and self-defeating beliefs and behaviors. EXA is a therapeutic modality that's dedicated to the use of creativity as a vehicle for change. For more information on these techniques and how they work, please feel free to visit my website. You are also welcome to contact me for a free 15-minute consultation.
