Fernanda's Tutoring

My tutoring services are unique because I have been an adult ESL learner myself and have had a similar learning experience to many of my students. I have also taught English in a foreign country for 20 years. I know the struggles of being an adult English-language learner and I teach to those challenges. I focus on what students' individual needs are instead of teaching traditional classes. I am constantly adapting my lessons and teaching style to accommodate each individual student. This methodology has been very successful throughout my teaching experience and I am eager to continue to teach new students here! I really enjoy sharing what I have learned with others. I was an exchange student here in California when I was in high school, so I know how important it is to have someone who understands the needs and challenges of being a non-native English speaker in the US. Even though I had taken English classes in my home country before arriving in the US, it was very different once I arrived here. I struggled with English for a while, but with the help of teachers and tutors, I was able to communicate very well by the time I returned to my home country the next year. This was the most valuable experience of my English-speaking journey. Upon my return to Brazil, I continued to learn English and began teaching ESL shortly thereafter. I am very proud of my accomplishment and am excited to share this gift with others.
