Hi! My name is Darren Wong and I am a member of the Kinjaz from NBC’s World of Dance Season 1.
18 years ago I was searching for the answers to those same questions. Unfortunately, I had to figure out how to dance on my own and learn the hard way. But, that doesn’t mean you have to.

New to getting private teachers. Was skeptical at first to use this app. Came across a member from my favorite dance team, Kinjaz and had to try it out. Was not disappointed. Very kind and helpful! 2 lessons so far and planning to try and do 2 lessons a month to keep growing as a dancer. Thanks for everything!

Simply said -- dance class with Darren is the best! He is professional, patient, kind, welcoming and extremely talented both as a teacher and a dancer. I took the class with a friend and we learned a lot, we danced a lot and we laughed a lot. Super fun and great exercise. We are hooked! Thank you Darren!!

I greatly enjoyed my dancelesson with Darren. I'm a very shy person and have social anxiety, but Darren made me feel very comfortable. I felt like I learned SO MUCH in one hour. He was able to provide critiques while still being nice and encouraging. He was not at all intimidating. I think that's what makes him a great teacher. I had to quit our lessons due to personal reasons but, for sure, once I get things in order I'll be taking more dancelessons from him in the future. Thanks for such a good experience!

Darren is a very professional dancer. I have enjoyed every lesson with him, and have learned a lot from him. He is also very approachable in personality. I would definitely increase the my lessons with him if he werent so busy with performances, lol.

I take privatelessons from Darren. I started pretty much from zero this year in hip hop dance and Darren has been an amazing and patient teacher. I feel like I’m improving every lesson and every practice. He is excellent and explaining and demonstrating things in different ways so it sticks. He also builds good fundamentals so you have a solid base for learning any style of hip hop dance. I highly recommend his lessons for any experience level!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Establish a "syllabus" based on my students goals and abilities, train my students in an organized fashion to establish core fundamentals before moving onto the more "flashy" movements my students want to learn from the get go, motivate my students to keep practicing and not lose faith in themselves (this is a difficult dance style to learn, so students often become unmotivated or frustrated that they are not getting a lesson at first), create fun activities and drills to help my students learn fundamental lessons while enjoying themselves.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am heavily involved in the hip hop industry performing and teaching with renowned dance organizations like the Kinjaz, Culture Shock LA and Kaba Modern. I constantly see the newest and updated styles and movements of dance in this industry.
