Mike is a Get-It-Done kinda guy. I needed him to rebuild a side-yard fence gate that had completely(!) fallen apart. He came by in the late afternoon to take a look, took some measurements, made a list, went shopping for the materials, returned and started the job - at the end of the day! He dug out the old fence post concrete (NO easy task!!!) and set the new post in fresh concrete just after dark. He returned the following week (we had to wait for rainy days to pass) to complete construction & hanging of the gate. He travels with the tools he needs to get the job done, and he is a focused and driven worker. Where possible, he will work with existing materials to help to keep costs down. Thanks Mike!
Angel and his crew made two pillars and four below-ground concrete pylons as footing for a 4-legged gazebo to straddle a circular pavilion in my backyard. His crew also poured a 7’ x 2’ concrete slab in our side yard to function as a grill parking spot. Angel had car trouble the first day, which delayed the start of work to two days later than we had agreed on. His crew spread the work over three evenings, delaying another crew's start date for assembly of the gazebo by two days. The posted rate for Angel's work was $45/hour. When the work was finished, Angel presented me with a bill that would have charged $40 an hour for each of his crew's 5 laborers. Angel may be an engineer worth $45 an hour, but someone digging a hole for concrete does not earn $40 an hour, so we renegotiated. Angel received $45/hour, and each of his workers earned $20/hour. We declined to pay for hours when multiple workers were present, but only one of them was working, since the others were just waiting for Angel to arrive. In addition to wages and materials, we paid $150 for gas. Angel would have spent less on gas, if the work had been concentrated into fewer days, which I would have preferred. The end result is: the anchors are level. The two front pillars have air pockets as large as 0.5" h x 2.5" in the sides, indicating the cement wasn’t packed down well. (I will use filler to get a smooth surface, after which paint will be necessary to hide the filler.) The work started late, was spread over too many days, and the concrete pillars should not have the air pockets they have. On the up side, I appreciated how clean the worksite was when Angel finished. He also gave me a few expert answers to questions I had about other potential concrete projects. Angel is polite and knowledgeable. Even so, it is important to be very specific with your timeline, cost expectations, and aesthetics up front.
My husband and I are re landscaping our front and back yards. We hired Philli to clean up the yards so we could have a blank slate to work off of. Philli and his brother worked incredibly hard removing a large concrete patio, metal fence, and many plants including a large walnut tree. Not only did they do a great job with a competitive price for their services, they were also such nice and genuine people to work with and talk to. Highly recommend!
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=978276465653081&id=100004122092651 OK, so here's the deal... if you live in the Sacramento area and are looking to get some concrete work done, check out Lilo and 5 Star Concrete. (916)498-4499. He's a genuinely good guy, works with his two nephews, they work hard and do quality work for a good price. Give him a call and tell him I referred you. If I EVER need concrete work again, I won't even bother with putting out for a bid... PERIOD! I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a brush finish slab at 4" with rebar, and he delivered beyond expectations. Professional, courteous and respectful. An absolute pleasure to do business with. And, if you're like me, and believe in supporting small business and the little guy, than this is the guy to go with. I was so impressed with him, his work, his attitude and everything, I tipped him a couple hundred extra for the job. Also, his work truck blew a head gasket while doing my job, so if you can, show the guy a little love for me. My tip won't go far to fix his truck, but maybe if he gets a job or two out of this it will. Even in the adversity of his truck breaking down, he kept his professionalism about himself so hire this guy and keep him and his family in business. America needs more guys like this! And, if you would be so kind, share this post... you never know who it'll reach to help him out. Doing so will make you a good human and bring you good karma!
This is an excellent company headed by Steve Brown. The work that he and his people did was most excellent. The price was well worth it. I would hire him and A and S Quality Concrete Inc again. I recommend them without reservation.
After meeting a couple of concrete specialists, I opted to hire Golden State Concrete to do my patio, side walkway and stepping stones project which has been long overdue. My choice was based on my fiest imlression during consultation meeting with Sai and Mark. It was a pleasure speaking with them and they understood the sensitivity of my project (8th month into my pregnancy) and willing to work with my layout. Mark and his team were very professional. They knew what they were doing and took no time to get the work done. When it came to the smooth concrete finish, Mark applied great skills as he meticulously did the job. I am glad I picked their organization for my project and would recommend them to any good friends and neighbors who may need their service. Thanks Golden State Concrete! I will post more pictures later when the backyard is completely done. For now, on baby watch. -Richelle
I wanted to expand my driveway by 100 square feet. I talked to a few contractors and some came out and gave a bid and others blew me off. Mario was different from the rest. He set up an appointment with me for the next day and he showed up on time. He quoted me a price which I eventually accepted. We set a date for him to do the work. He called me and said he could do it a day earlier. I said great. He completed the job in two days and it looks great. His workmanship was very good. He took out 6" of dirt, put in 1-2" of gravel and pour 4-5" of concrete. He matched the expansion joints up with the existing driveway and it looks great. I would heartily recommend Mario. From my experience I would say he is honest, trustworthy with high integrity.
Don and his crew did a nice job on the slab on our addition and side yard slab. Fair price, professional and on time.
Ben communicate constantly with dates that he could do the concrete work. Finally we had a date that worked and it came out amazing. I was not able to be home and it came out like I envisioned. When he was done it didn't even look like he was there but the perfect concrete was. Thank you so much Ben. Can't wait to call you for the next pour.
Jerry was very attentive and full of ideas and options. There's a wide range of choices that would fit my needs and he explained them all. They even do countertops. We decided to install wood floors but I've kept them in mind if we want to upgrade our garage or countertops. He was punctual and enthusiastic & full of information.
The project is going slower than expected. Puncuality is not a strong point. The main foreman seems like a nice guy but every day we are waiting for progress. Example: He said they were coming by between 1 and 3. They didn't show up till 6:30. The project was going to take 2 days now it looks like 4 days or more. I will add more later when the job is done. Should be tomorrow but there is still a lot to be done in the backyard. I think he takes on too many jobs at once. That is the problem. But again, a really nice guy.
Extensive stamped concrete pathway and patios, barbecue island, and landscape lighting. We didn't have a finished design and much appreciated how easy it was to work through choices and costs with Jerry. Crews showed up on time, clearly knew what they were doing, and cared about the finished product. We are very pleased with the results, found the costs to be reasonable and can recommend Jerry and California Hardscapes without reservation.
Tyler was very punctual and professional. The right guy if you are looking for excellent concrete work. I would highly recommend him and his team!
I hired Mr. Quinley to build a vertical stamped concrete wall with a redwood fence on top of it. My property backs up to a commercial property lot. Mr Quinley did an awesome job. In fact I've had an incredible number of compliments about it. He did such a great job, I hired him to put in two sliding glass doors & a set of French doors.
Skilled Landscape & Concrete did a brilliant job laying concrete on our driveway and backyard. Very impressed with the whole teamwork as they communicated well and professional in their dealings with us. Most of all they completed the concrete work in such a timely manner. In fact a day ahead of schedule. We would highly recommend them for their excellent work and especially to David, Project Manager. We had such a positive dealing with him. Thank you.
I hired Robert to paint concrete around the pool area. He did an excellent job. He is thorough, professional and deliver high quality result. His charge is very reasonable too. I will definitely hire him again.
