The truth is, the market is inundated with copywriters who seek your business. Finding the right combination of work ethic and talent can be difficult. Flexibility. I am able to do what I love--writing--from anywhere for anyone. My job--if you want to call it that--allows me to write about a variety of topics while helping others with their business goals. I write biographies for business executives, newsletters highlighting employees who have done something extraordinary in their field, marketing materials for beneficial products and even press releases for promotions. There is never a dull moment and I am given learning opportunities every time I research for a particular project. I could not think of a better job with more flexibility!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?My hourly rate is $50. Though, often, it is difficult to set an hourly rate. I prefer to quote on a per-project basis. Because your needs are unique and you have specific expectations, projects vary widely in terms of density and scope; therefore, when quoting a project I consider: The nature of the content The desired word count and/or length The amount of research I'll need to complete to become an expert on the topic The estimated amount of time the project will take to complete I believe in providing a level of excellence that exceeds expectations and meets the highest degree of quality. My work corresponds with my rates which are fair and competitive.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Often, I take an online course to update my skills and I have recently participated in online webinars that I find useful or sometimes just catch my interest.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have always been interested in writing and took many college courses on different types of media, from public relations and advertising to creative writing.
