Getting the Right Beat for Special Events
I always say "I just want to DJ, not be a businessperson!" But these challenges have made me more focused on my goals, made me a stronger (also tougher) person, and increased my determination to succeed, because this is a great business.
Jason Ruderman felt the need to start his own DJ business in 2008, after having worked for a large, well-known entertainment company in San Francisco Bay Area. He did it so he could provide a closer, more intimate relationship with his clients through his wedding and party DJ services. (Above is a photo of a wedding he DJed at a nearby 5-star hotel this summer, taken by professional photographer Lacey LaDuke.)
To keep his customers happy and satisfied, Jason would see to it that he quickly responds to their questions or comments online or by phone. He also establishes a trust factor with his clients by showing up on-time and well prepared to DJ a great event.
...I usually ask my clients to please check out the 40 excellent customer reviews I have listed on the website, and 130 venues DJ'ed. There is no substitute for experience in this business, and I am always learning and growing.
