I hired Nick for a birthday party, a group of about 50 people at a bar. Overall good experience -- he had no issues setting up the equipment and worked directly with the bar, the music was great, people were dancing, and he adjusted the music for the crowd. I knocked off a star because I had a hard time getting in touch with Nick leading up to the event. About 2 weeks before the event I emailed him, then reached out on Thumbtack, and then called. It took over a week for him to respond. There were a lot of moving parts I had to organize and was pretty stressed, so a prompt response (ideally a proactive outreach) would have been very helpful! But I would hire Nick again and would recommend him to others.

Truly saddened to say I Would not recommend. I am not even the type to leave negative reviews OR ask for discounts but could not let this go without acknowledgment. We booked him for our 8/23/26 wedding. While he was polite and offered $200 off our $1,000 invoice for “customer satisfaction” after my dad spoke to him, that did not reflect a true want to rectify the severity of the experience or the impact it had on our wedding day. The most important song of my ceremony—my walk-down song—was not played. I had to walk down the aisle with no music because if i’d waited any longer it wouldve thrown off the timing/flow of the ceremony, and he eventually found the song and started it after I was already standing at the altar. He explained that it was an equipment error, which I understand can happen. If that had been the only issue, I would not be writing this review.
Unfortunately, it continued throughout the reception. Just before our grand entrance, he came out and asked me in front of the bridal party to remind him of our entrance song and artist, which he typed into his phone. Then after the bridal party entered, there was this long awkward pause/silence, we were not announced, and the entrance song was then played…so still not on time or flowing with the other entrances.
Our first dance was also delayed after we had already been brought up to the dance floor, and when the song finally began, it did not even start from the actual beginning. He also did not invite our guests to join us on the dance floor as we had discussed, so my MOH had to grab the microphone and make the announcement herself.
I had completed his planning form with our song selections and sent two clearly labeled playlists—one for mocktail hour and one for the reception—to make sure our music was more organized than this and our must-plays were covered. Despite that, he played the slow jazz playlist intended for mocktail hour for much of the reception. No upbeat/dance music was played until approximately 75% of our guests had already left. My bridesmaid eventually had to ask him to pull up the reception playlist.
He also did not dismiss tables for the buffet as we had discussed, so my family and the caterer had to step in and handle it. He said there were no table numbers, despite every table being numbered.
At that point, this was no longer one technical mistake. There were repeated issues with our ceremony, grand entrance, first dance, guest announcements, buffet coordination, and reception music—all things we had discussed before hand.
Im generally pretty easy going and I tried to hold it together because I did not want these issues to ruin our wedding, but after multiple guests, our bridal party, and even our other vendors commented on what was happening, There were several times I had to go to the restroom to cry and recompose myself. I am attaching a photo of my dad and me walking down the aisle because the confusion on our faces is pretty clear. I wish I were less expressive so that my walk down PHOTOS were not also tainted by the song mishap..
Our wedding was still a blessed and meaningful day, but we can never get that day back. I appreciate the $200 adjustment, I just feel we deserved a larger refund.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are reasonable and flexible. I can work with your budget, within reason. The closer you are to me, the more flexible I can be with my prices. Hit me up and I'll give you a quote!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I get details about the event, make sure I'm available, answer any questions (usually about what genres I can play), then give a quote. Once a price is agreed upon I take a 20% deposit to hold the date. I invoice for the deposit, and that invoice also acts as our contract/agreement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20+ years DJing clubs, parties, and raves. Started doing weddings and mobile gigs about 3 years ago and it comes very naturally! My customers will definitely agree.
